James L. Robinson
James Lowry Robinson (September 17, 1838 – July 11, 1887) was a United States Democratic Party, Democratic politician from the U.S. state of North Carolina; he served as the fourth Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, lieutenant governor of the state for four years under Governor Thomas Jordan Jarvis, Thomas J. Jarvis and as acting Governor of North Carolina for one month in 1883. Earlier in his political career he served in the North Carolina House of Representatives, including as Speaker, and then the North Carolina Senate. Early life Robinson was born and raised in Franklin, North Carolina; he served in the North Carolina militia during the American Civil War and was wounded at the Battle of Seven Pines. Thomas Jordan Jarvis
Thomas Jordan Jarvis (January 18, 1836June 17, 1915) was the 44th governor of the U.S. state of North Carolina from 1879 to 1885. Jarvis later served as a U.S. Senator from 1894 to 1895, and helped establish East Carolina Teachers Training School, now known as East Carolina University, in 1907. North Carolina Senate
The North Carolina Senate is the upper chamber of the North Carolina General Assembly, which along with the North Carolina House of Representatives—the lower chamber—comprises the state legislature of North Carolina. The term of office for each senator is only two years. The Senate's prerogatives and powers are similar to those of the other house, the House of Representatives. Charles Manly Stedman
Charles Manly Stedman (January 29, 1841 – September 23, 1930) was a politician and lawyer from North Carolina. Biography Born in Pittsboro, North Carolina, Stedman moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina with his parents in 1853 where he attended Pittsboro and Donaldson Academies and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1861, where he was a member of the Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies. During the Civil War he enlisted as a private in the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Company; part of the Confederate 1st North Carolina "Bethel Regiment.
