James Kent (July 31, 1763 – December 12, 1847), sometimes called the "American Blackstone", was an American jurist, New York legislator and legal scholar. James Kent (composer)
James Kent (13 March 1700 – 6 May 1776) was an English organist and composer. Kent was born in Winchester and was a chorister of Winchester Cathedral and the King's Chapel. He was appointed organist of Trinity College, Cambridge, where he worked until about 1737. Then he was organist in Winchester of both the cathedral and the college. He retired in 1774 and was buried after his death in 1776 in the north aisle of the cathedral. His memorial is in the floor of the north transept. James Kent (born 1993), known by his stage name Perturbator, is a French synthwave musician from Paris. Biography Kent has a background as a guitarist in several black metal bands. Since 2012, he has produced electronic music inspired by cyberpunk culture and from movies such as ''Akira'', ''Ghost in the Shell'', and ''The Running Man''. He uses a variety of software synths in his productions, such as the emulators of old vintage synths like the OB-X or the CS-80. Since his debut EP ''Night Driving Avenger'' he has released five full-length albums, the latest of which is ''Lustful Sacraments'' on the Blood Music label, and has performed several live shows. William James Kent (born February 10, 1960) is an American research scientist and computer programmer. He has been a contributor to genome database projects and the 2003 winner of the Benjamin Franklin Award. Early life Kent was born in Hawaii and grew up in San Francisco, California, United States. Computer animation Kent began his programming career in 1983 with Island Graphics Inc. where he wrote the Aegis Animator program for the Amiga home computer. This program combined polygon tweening in 3D with simple 2D cel-based animation. In 1985 he founded and ran a software company, Dancing Flame, which adapted the Aegis Animator to the Atari ST, and created Cyber Paint for that machine. James Begg Kent (1885 – 4 November 1970) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. He served as a Member of Parliament and was both a borough councillor and deputy mayor of Greymouth. Biography Early life and career He was born in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland, in 1885. There he studied as a sign writer at Dunoon Grammar School winning many awards before becoming a teacher at the same school. He then moved to London where he became the head sign writer for the London City Council works department. He became a member of the Independent Labour Party and served as a party organiser before being elected as a member of the Patrick Town Council. Kent emigrated to New Zealand in 1909 and settled in Greymouth and established his own sign writer business.
