James Howard (mathematician)
James P. Howard, II, is an American mathematician at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, where he works as a data scientist and statistician. Early life Howard was born in Dayton, Ohio and attended schools in southwest Ohio. He studied mathematics at the University of Maryland, College Park, environmental science at the Johns Hopkins University, and public policy at the University of Baltimore. He earned his doctorate in 2014 in public policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His research focused on the economic costs of the National Flood Insurance Program. Career He is a scientist at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory where his work focuses on data science. Howard County is located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2010 census, the population was 287,085. As of the 2020 census its population rose to 328,200. Its county seat is Ellicott City. Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience that combines the real world and computer-generated content. The content can span multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory. AR can be defined as a system that incorporates three basic features: a combination of real and virtual worlds, real-time interaction, and accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects. The overlaid sensory information can be constructive (i.e. additive to the natural environment), or destructive (i.e. masking of the natural environment).
