James Holloway (artist)
James Holloway (died June 28, 2020) was an artist whose work appeared in role-playing games. Background Jim Holloway was self taught in illustration, although he was able to study some oil paintings by his father. Works Jim Holloway produced interior illustrations for many ''Dungeons & Dragons'' books and ''Dragon'' magazine starting in 1981, as well as cover art for ''The Land Beyond the Magic Mirror'' and ''Dungeonland'' (1983), and ''Mad Monkey vs. the Dragon Claw'' (1988), the '' Spelljammer: AD&D Adventures in Space'' boxed set (1989), and ''Ronin Challenge'' (1990). Holloway was the original artist for the ''Paranoia'' role-playing game, and also did the cover for ''Tales from the Floating Vagabond'' from Avalon Hill. He also created artwork for many products from FASA's ''BattleTech'' game line (''BattleTech'', ''CityTech'', ''AeroTech'', etc.). ''Beyond Shadowgate'' is a TurboGrafx CD sequel to the 1987 Mac and MacVenture game ''Shadowgate''. Unlike its predecessor, ''Beyond Shadowgate'' is a classical point-and-click adventure viewed from a platform perspective. A 14 by 19 inch poster by veteran role-playing game artist Jim Holloway, who also created the game's opening and closing animation sequences, was folded inside the jewel case for the game. Plot The player controls Prince Erik, the descendant of the hero from the first game, Lord Jair. When Prince Erik returns to his home country, he finds out about his father's murder. Sovereign Press, Incorporated is a publisher and distributor of role-playing games based in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It was founded in 1998 by Margaret Weis and Don Perrin and is one of two companies that Weis owns. Pacesetter Ltd was a game company based in Delavan, Wisconsin, founded in 1984.
