James Holder
James (Jim) Holder (born 5 May 1986 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian speedway rider. He is the older brother of 2012 Speedway World Champion and five times Australian Champion Chris Holder, and Jack Holder, who is also a speedway rider. Career Holder began his career at the Isle of Wight Islanders in the Premier League. In 2009 he signed for the Newport Wasps after the Islanders quit the Premier League and dropped down a division. His younger brother Chris Holder rides for the Poole Pirates in the British Elite League. James started the 2010 season with the Stoke Potters, but after they let him go part way through the season he was immediately signed by the Somerset Rebels The Somerset Rebels were a British speedway team based in Highbridge, Somerset. Jack Holder
Jack Holder (born 23 March 1996) in Appin, New South Wales is an Australian speedway rider currently riding for Sheffield Tigers in the British Elite League and Apator Toruń in the Polish Ekstraliga. Jack is a World team champion and his brother Chris Holder is a former World individual champion. Career A successful rider in Australia, he came to England and first rode for Plymouth Gladiators in 2015. After two seasons, he rode for both Peterborough Panthers and Poole Pirates in 2017, helping Poole to win the Elite Shield. Jack Holder finished in sixth place at the 2017 Speedway Under-21 World Championship and 4th in the Jason Crump Classic Cup - considered a warm-up for the Australian Senior Solo Championship. Elite League (speedway)
The Elite League was the top division of speedway league competition in the United Kingdom, governed by the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). It was sponsored by Sky Sports until the end of the 2013 season. In 2016, the Elite League featured 8 teams, unlike 10 in 2014, during a season which ran between March and October. Each team had a designated race day on which they normally staged their home fixtures, and they regularly had home and away fixtures scheduled in the same week. The Elite League operated for 20 years until British speedway was restructured with the formation of the SGB Premiership and SGB Championship. Poole Pirates (also known as Poole Speedway) are a motorcycle speedway team based in Poole, England, competing in the SGB Championship. The club have been the champions of the United Kingdom on ten occasions. Poole Speedway is promoted by local businessman Matt Ford and son Danny Ford, who took over promoting rights of the club in 1998. The team is managed by past rider and former Great Britain team manager Neil Middleditch. Wimborne Road Stadium has been home to the club since it was founded in 1948. In August 2004, Poole hosted the Speedway World Cup final, which was won by Sweden. Stadium Poole Stadium (also known as Wimborne Road Stadium), has been the Pirates' home track since the club was created in 1948. The ''Isle of Wight County Press'' is a local, compact newspaper published every Friday on the Isle of Wight. The Premier League was the second tier of Motorcycle speedway, speedway in the United Kingdom (with the exception of the 1995 and 1996 seasons) and governed by The Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). The Premier League was founded in 1995 when the two divisions of the British League were amalgamated. In 1997, the Elite League (speedway), Elite League was created as a new top tier with the Premier League becoming the second tier. Christopher Robert Holder (born 24 September 1987 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian speedway rider currently riding for Lejonen in the Swedish Elitserien and for Apator Toruń in the Polish Speedway Ekstraliga. He became the Australian Individual Speedway Champion in 2008 and followed up with wins in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014 (he was runner up in 2009) as well as winning the Australian Under-21 Championship in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. He finished as runner-up in the Under-21 World Championship in 2007 and 2008. He is 2012 World Speedway Champion. His brother, James, also rode in the UK with the Plymouth Devils in the Premier League and younger brother Jack Holder also rides for the Somerset Rebels in the SGB Premiership.
