James Hogan (American Football)
James Joseph Hogan (November 1, 1876 – March 20, 1910) was an Irish-American college football player. A member of the Yale Bulldogs football team from 1901 to 1904, he was recognized three times as a consensus All-America selection. He was posthumously elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1954. Biography Hogan was born in County Tipperary, Ireland, and moved to Torrington, Connecticut, with his family while young. He entered Phillips Exeter Academy in 1897, and was captain of the gridiron football team in 1899 and 1900. At Yale University, Hogan played four seasons as a tackle on the football varsity, 1901–1904, and was team captain of the 1904 Bulldogs. The Bulldogs compiled an overall 43–3–2 record during his four seasons. He also was a member of Yale's track team and the Skull and Bones secret society. James Reginald Hogan, is an Australian airline executive. Between 2006 and mid-2017, he was the President and CEO of Etihad Airways, one of the national airlines of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Early life and career James Hogan grew up in Melbourne, Victoria, and attended Ivanhoe Grammar School, graduating in 1975. James Hogan (Saskatchewan Politician)
James Hogan (1872 – January 8, 1935) was an American-born farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Vonda from 1917 to 1934 and Humboldt from 1934 to 1935 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. The son of Edward Hogan and Helen Morton, he was born in Decorah, Iowa on November 27, 1872 and came to Canada in 1906, settling near Meacham, Saskatchewan. He became a citizen of Canada in 1910. On June 26, 1893,in Decorah, Iowa, he married Nellie (Ellen) Walsh, daughter of James Walsh and Ellen Dwyer. Hogan served 12 years as reeve of the rural municipality of Bayne. James Francis Hogan MP (29 December 1855 – 9 November 1924) was an Irish history professor at University College Cork, author and Member of Parliament for Mid Tipperary between 1893 and 1900. Biography Born in County Tipperary in 1855, to Rody and Mary Hogan, he had one sister, Margaret. He emigrated to Melbourne in 1856 and lived in Geelong, attending St. Mary's Catholic School there before a year at St Patrick's College, Melbourne. He graduated and began to teach in 1872. He began writing in local newspapers on Catholic topics, before later editing the ''Victorian Review''. Joining he Victorian Catholic Young Men's Society in 1884 he admired the legacy of Daniel O'Connell and campaigned to erect a memorial to him. James Humphries Hogan RDI FSGT FRS (20 December 1883 – 12 January 1948) was an English stained glass designer with the firm of James Powell and Sons throughout his career, rising from apprentice to be managing director of the company. He made magnificent stained glass for many of England's cathedrals, including the 100 feet high central windows of Liverpool Cathedral. Biography Hogan was trained in turn at the Westminster School of Art, the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, and the Central School of Arts and Crafts. James Thomas Hogan (1 December 1874 – 1 January 1953) was an Independent Member of Parliament for two electorates in the North Island of New Zealand. Born in Wanganui, Hogan was a machinist in the railway workshops, and a trade union secretary. James Joseph Hogan (né Cregan; 28 May 1933 – 10 January 2015) was an Irish distance runner who competed for both Ireland and Great Britain. He was born in Croom, County Limerick, Ireland. Hogan's athletic career saw him compete for Ireland at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and for Great Britain at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. He was also the only Irish athlete to win the European marathon title. Biography Hogan was born as Jim Cregan in thlacca, County Limerick Ireland in May 1933. In his youth, he had some success in cross-country running in Ireland. However, he initially retired from the sport at the age of 26, and moved to England in 1960.
