James Grehan (musician)
James Grehan is an Australian singer and songwriter. Grehan has released four studio albums. He has performed at Woodford Folk Festival, Big Day Out and Valley Fiesta. Grehan describes his music as "Smooth progressive folk, lightly salted with a garnish of electronic textures, easy to swallow with a pleasurable palate." Early life and career In 2003, Grehan released his debut album, ''Rather Be a Butterfly'' which was described as a combination of "contemporary electronica with acoustic sounds". In 2004, Grehan won Best Acoustic Artist at the 2004 Music Oz Awards. In 2005, Grehan's released his second album ''Chemical Sunsets'' which was proceeded by the single, "Code Red". In 2008, Grehan was nominated for five awards at the Q Song Awards, winning three. In 2011, Grehan release ''Paper Parallels'', which featured "Falling" which won two awards at the 2010 Q Song Awards, making James the most awarded Q Song winner in the history of the awards. Woodford Folk Festival
The Woodford Folk Festival is an annual music and cultural festival held near the semi-rural town of Woodford, north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is one of the biggest annual cultural events of its type in Australia. Every year approximately 125,000 patrons attend the festival. Approximately 2000 performers and 438 events are programmed featuring local, national and international guests. Big Day Out
The Big Day Out (BDO) was an annual music festival that was held in five Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide, and Perth, as well as Auckland, New Zealand. The festival was held during summer, typically in January of each year but was sometimes held as late as early February in some cities including Perth. The event was conceptualised after the Violent Femmes announced a tour of Australia. Promoters Ken West and Vivian Lees sought another act as middle-level support for the band's tour. They succeeded in securing Nirvana to play the Sydney leg at the Hordern Pavilion. The Australasian Performing Right Association Awards of 2010 (generally known as APRA Music Awards) was the 28th annual ceremony by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) to award outstanding achievements in contemporary songwriting, composing and publishing. They are a series of awards which include the APRA Music Awards and Screen Music Awards.
