James Foley (bishop)
James Foley (born 19 July 1948) is an Australian prelate of the Catholic Church who was the Bishop of Cairns in Queensland from 1992 to 2022. Biography James Foley was born in Brisbane on 19 July 1948. He was educated at the St Ignatius Parish School at Toowong and at Marist College at Ashgrove. He was ordained a priest on 7 August 1973. From 1976 to 1982 he studied at the University of Louvain, earning a licentiate and a doctorate in philosophy. During those years he also served as a chaplain on British and American military bases in West Germany. Returning to Australia, he began teaching at Banyo Seminary in 1982. He also taught occasionally at Brisbane College of Theology, the Australian Catholic University, and the University of Queensland. James Foley (born December 28, 1953) is an American film director. His 1986 film ''At Close Range'' was entered into the 36th Berlin International Film Festival. Other films he has directed include '' Glengarry Glen Ross'', based on the play of the same name by David Mamet, and '' The Chamber'', based on the novel of the same name by author John Grisham. He also directed the two sequels to ''Fifty Shades of Grey'': '' Fifty Shades Darker'' (2017) and '' Fifty Shades Freed'' (2018). James Foley (journalist)
James Wright Foley (October 18, 1973 – August 19, 2014) was an American journalist and video reporter. While working as a freelance war correspondent during the Syrian Civil War, he was abducted on November 22, 2012, in northwestern Syria. He was murdered by decapitation in August 2014 purportedly as a response to American airstrikes in Iraq, thus becoming the first American citizen killed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Before becoming a journalist, Foley was an instructor for Teach For America. In 2008, he became an embedded journalist with USAID-funded development projects in Iraq, and in 2011 he wrote for the military newspaper ''Stars and Stripes'' in Afghanistan, and ''GlobalPost'' in Libya. James Bradford Foley (October 18, 1807 – December 5, 1886) was an American politician who served one term as a U.S. Representative from Indiana from 1857 to 1859. Biography Born near Dover, Kentucky, Foley received a limited schooling. He was employed on a flatboat on the Mississippi River in 1823. He moved to Greensburg, Indiana, in 1834. He engaged in mercantile pursuits 1834-1837, and afterwards in farming. Treasurer of Decatur County 1841-1843. He served as member of the State constitutional convention in 1850. James Brendan Foley (born April 4, 1957) is a retired American foreign service officer. He served as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Haiti from May 27, 2003 to August 14, 2005, and as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia from August 12, 2009 to August 19, 2012.
