James Fleming (rugby Player)
James Stephen Fleming (born 15 October 1987) is a Scottish rugby union player who has retired from the Scotland national rugby sevens team. He competed in 45 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments and scored 112 tries before retiring from professional rugby in 2018. He formerly played for Perthshire RFC and Dundee HSFP. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. One of the two codes of rugby football, it is based on running with the ball in hand. Scotland National Rugby Sevens Team
The Scotland national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens and the Commonwealth Games. The head coach is Ciaran Beattie, supported by manager Sean Lamont and skills coach Graham Shiel. During 2006, the side were in danger of no longer competing in the Sevens World Series due to the financial problems faced by the Scottish Rugby Union. However, they gained a reprieve when the International Rugby Board announced that a leg of the Sevens World Series would be held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, starting in 2007. The SRU then announced that the Scotland sevens team would compete in all eight legs of the Sevens World Series, and draw players from the country's national academy. HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series
The World Rugby Men's Sevens Series is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season as the IRB World Sevens Series, the competition was formed to promote an elite-level of international rugby sevens and develop the game into a viable commercial product. The competition has been sponsored by banking group HSBC since 2014. The season's circuit consists of 10 tournaments that generally begin in November or December and last until May. The venues are held across 10 countries, and visits five of the six populated continents. The United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, France and England each host one event. The ''Perthshire Advertiser'' (originally the ''Perthshire Advertiser and Strathmore Journal'') is a tabloid newspaper, published by Reach plc, in Perth, Scotland. The ''PA'', as it is commonly known, has two editions, a Tuesday and Friday. Beginning life in 1829 as the ''Strathmore Journal'', and published in Coupar Angus, the 'Strathmore' was renamed the ''Perthshire Advertiser and Strathmore Journal. C''osting 7d and comprising four densely packed pages, it was issued on Thursday mornings.''Perthshire Advertiser'', 7 August 1979. The paper's price was reduced to fourpence halfpenny on 8 September 1836 and dropped a further penny in 1855 as a result of the reduction in newspaper stamp duty. Perthshire RFC
Perthshire Rugby Football Club, formerly known as Perthshire Academicals, is a rugby union club located in the city of Perth, Scotland. History Founded in 1868, it is one of the oldest rugby clubs in Scotland. Perthshire was a consistently successful club in the third division of the old National League in Scotland until recently. Over the seasons 2003–04, 2004–05 and 2005–06, the club gained successive promotions, reaching Scottish Premiership Division 3 for the first time in the 2006–07 season. They remained in this league until 2012–13 season when they were relegated to Caledonia Regional League 1. Perthshire also put a lot of emphasis into coaching youth players. The club has a development team who coach the youth teams and make regular visits to schools in the area to promote rugby. Dundee HSFP is a former rugby union team that played their home games at the Mayfield Playing Fields, Dundee, Scotland. The club disbanded in 2021. The team was founded in 1880 by former pupils of the High School of Dundee. ''The Courier'' (known as ''The Courier & Advertiser'' between 1926 and 2012) is a newspaper published by DC Thomson in Dundee, Scotland.
