Jim Ferguson
James Edwin Ferguson (born December 23, 1948) is an American guitarist, composer, journalist, and educator. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Ferguson began his early music education playing the trombone at age 7, and then after eight years of study, switched to the guitar at age 15. He moved to California and began his music career in the 1970s, performing, teaching, and devoting serious study to the guitar. James Ferguson (anthropologist)
James Ferguson (born June 16, 1959) is an American anthropologist. He is known for his work on the politics and anthropology of international development, specifically his critical stance (development criticism). He was chair of the Anthropology Department at Stanford University. His best-known work is his book, '' The Anti-Politics Machine''. He delivered the most prestigious lecture in anthropology, the Morgan Lecture, in 2009, for his work on basic income. He earned his B.A. in cultural anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an M.A. and Ph.D. in social anthropology from Harvard University. General James Ferguson (August 15, 1913 – July 13, 2000) was a U.S. Air Force general and was commander of the Air Force Systems Command at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Biography Ferguson was born in Izmir, Turkey, of British parents in 1913. He attended elementary school in Scotland and later settled with his family in Whittier, California. He became a naturalized United States citizen March 28, 1930; graduated from a local high school in 1931, and from Fullerton Junior College in California, in 1934. He enlisted in the Air Corps in October 1934, began his flying training a year later and completed it in July 1936. He flew as a flying cadet for one year before being commissioned a second lieutenant in June 1937. He was assigned in March 1940 to Hamilton Field, California as commanding officer of the 79th Pursuit Squadron. James Frederic Ferguson
James Frederic Ferguson (1807–1855) was an Irish antiquary. Life Ferguson was born at Charleston, South Carolina, in 1807. He was of French descent, son of Jacques Frédéric Jaquemain, a native of Cambrai. During the time of the French Revolution Jaquemain left France and settled in London, assuming the name of Ferguson in 1793. Six years later he went to America, and in 1800 became deputy-postmaster of Beaufort, South Carolina, where he resided till 1812. After the death of his wife, an English lady, Jaquemain went to London, where he became a teacher of languages. Subsequently, he established a school in St Stephen's Green, Dublin. In 1823 he published a volume of Italian translations from the classic poets. James Ferguson (before 1677–1705) of Balmakelly and Kirtonhill, Kincardineshire, was a Scottish major-general, colonel of the Cameronian regiment. Ferguson was the third son of William Ferguson, laird of Badifurrow, who represented Inverurie in the first Scottish parliament after the Restoration, remembered for its demonstrative loyalty as the ‘ drunken parliament.’ James was a younger brother of Robert Ferguson 'the Plotter'. Military career Ferguson appears to have entered the Scots brigade in the pay of Holland, probably as a gentleman volunteer, some time during the reign of Charles II. James Michael "Jim" Ferguson (born April 27, 1949) is a retired water polo player from the United States. He played on UCLA's team from 1968 to 1970 which included the undefeated 1969 team in which he received All-American honors. He was born in Kokomo, Indiana. In the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany, Ferguson was co-captain of the USA Team that won a bronze medal. In 1973 Ferguson was selected to the All World Team. An outstanding competitor, Ferguson was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1984, to the International Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1992, and was inducted into UCLA's Athletic Hall of Fame in October 2007.
