James Faulkner (Livingston County, NY)
James Faulkner (January 21, 1790 in Cambridge, Washington County, New York – October 19, 1884 in Dansville, Livingston County, New York) was an American physician, manufacturer, banker and politician from New York. Life He was the son of Samuel Faulkner (1765–1805) and Catherine (Phoenix) Faulkner (b. 1768). In 1796, his family removed to Dansville, then a settlement in the Town of Sparta, in Ontario County, now a village in the Town of North Dansville in Livingston County. In 1801, he and his father remove to Geneseo where his father died in 1805. In 1807, Faulkner went to Painted Post to study medicine. In 1811, he was licensed to practice, and commenced the practice of medicine in Bath. On May 12, 1812, he married Minerva Hammond (1795–1855), and returned to Dansville. Cambridge is a town in Washington County, New York, United States. It is part of the Glens Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town population was 2,152 at the 2000 census. The town of Cambridge contains part of a village, also called Cambridge. History The Town of Cambridge, formerly in Albany County, New York, was transferred to Washington County in 1791, shortly after the United States gained independence in the American Revolutionary War. New York State Senate
The New York State Senate is the upper house of the New York State Legislature; the New York State Assembly is its lower house. Its members are elected to two-year terms; there are no term limits. There are 63 seats in the Senate. Partisan composition The New York State Senate was dominated by the Republican Party for much of the 20th century. Between World War II and the turn of the 21st century, the Democratic Party only controlled the upper house for one year. Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American jurist who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991. After Marshall, Thomas is the second African American to serve on the Court and its longest-serving member since Anthony Kennedy's retirement in 2018. Thomas was born in Pin Point, Georgia. After his father abandoned the family, he was raised by his grandfather in a poor Gullah community near Savannah. Laurens Hull (June 6, 1779 – June 27, 1865) was an American physician and politician from New York. Life He was the son of Dr. Titus Hull (1751–1817) and Olive (Lewis) Hull (1754–1812). He was born in that part of Woodbury which was separated in 1787 as the Town of Bethlehem, in Litchfield County, Connecticut. He studied medicine, and was licensed to practice in May 1802. Half a year later he removed to Augusta, New York, and practiced medicine there with Dr. Amos G. Hull. In 1803, he married Dorcas Ambler (1780–1858), and they had several children. In September 1804, he removed to Bridgewater, and practiced medicine there on his own. He was a member of the New York State Assembly ( Oneida Co.) in 1814 and 1826. In 1827, he received the honorary degree of M.D. from the University of the State of New York.
