Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. Tigerton, Wisconsin
Tigerton is a village in Shawano County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 741 at the 2010 census. History The Lake Shore Railroad ran through the area from 1879 to 1981. Established in 1896, the village is named after Tiger Creek. The creek is said to have fast-running waters that roar like a tiger. Concordia University, St. Paul is a private university in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was founded in 1893 and enrolls nearly 5,600 students. It is a member of the Concordia University System, which is operated by the second-largest Lutheran church body in the United States, the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. The school was a two year college until 1964. The present name Concordia University, St. Paul was adopted in 1997. Academics CSP offers a wide variety of programs including undergraduate majors and minors, graduate programs, adult undergraduate degree programs, continuing education classes and certificates, and licensure and colloquy programs. Concordia Senior College
Concordia Senior College was a liberal arts college located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and affiliated with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). It was founded in 1957 and closed in 1977. The senior college was a new type of institution for the LCMS. It provided future pastors with training before they attended a seminary, during their third and fourth undergraduate years of college. Concordia Senior College was by-and-large an all-men's institution with no female faculty, although there were a small number of female students who were housed in a separate dormitory. In 1977, the function of Concordia Senior College was transferred to other LCMS colleges, the Concordia University System. Today those colleges are responsible for much of the undergraduate training of future LCMS pastors. Concordia Seminary
Concordia Seminary is a Lutheran seminary in Clayton, Missouri. The institution's primary mission is to train pastors, deaconesses, missionaries, chaplains, and church leaders for the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). Founded in 1839, the seminary initially resided in Perry County, Missouri. In 1849, it was moved to St. Louis, and in 1926, the current campus was built. The St. Louis institution was at one time considered the "theoretical" (academic) seminary of the LCMS while Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne was considered the "practical" seminary, although those distinctions no longer exist. Concordia Seminary currently offers a Master of Divinity degree leading to ordination, as well as Master of Arts, Master of Sacred Theology, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Robert Thompson (Wisconsin Politician)
Robert Thompson (November 25, 1927 – June 1, 1999) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Thompson was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from Poynette High School in Poynette, Wisconsin. Later, he joined the United States Marshals Service. As a U.S. marshal, Thompson was in charge of law enforcement at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin in 1980, when it was used as an internment camp for Cuban refugees admitted as part of the Mariel boatlift. Thompson was married with one child. He died on June 1, 1999 after suffering a heart attack while watching a softball game. Political career Thompson was first elected to the Assembly in 1970 as a Democrat. After serving as Sergeant at Arms of the Wisconsin State Senate from 1975 to 1978, Thompson was again elected to the Assembly in 1982.
