James Egeta
James Egeta (born 10 August 1990) is a Solomon Islands footballer who plays as a midfielder. Early life Egeta started playing futsal as a child. He was introduced to the sport at school. Career Egeta has been described as a "role model to many young players in the Solomon Islands and the region". He has been regarded as one of the Solomon Islands national futsal team's most important players and has played in three FIFA Futsal World Cups. The Solomon Islands national futsal team, nicknamed Kurukuru, represents the Solomon Islands in international futsal competitions and is controlled by the Solomon Islands Football Federation. It is one of the strongest teams in Oceania, but fares poorly in competitions outside the region. The team's coach in 2008 was Victor Wai’ia. By 2009, he had been succeeded by Dickson Kadau. The country has no futsal stadium, although in July 2009 Prime Minister Derek Sikua promised that the government would assist in building one. FIFA Futsal World Cup
The FIFA Futsal World Cup is an international futsal competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA, the sport's global governing body. Since the first edition that took place in 1989 in the Netherlands, the tournament has been held every four years since 1992 in the even year between two 11-a-side World Cups. The current champions are Portugal, who won their first world title after beating the 2016 defending champions Argentina in the final of the 2021 tournament in Lithuania. All events prior to 2008 were 16-team events. The first event featured 6 teams from Europe, 3 from South America, 2 from Africa, 2 from Asia, 2 from North and Central America and 1 from Oceania. Solomon Islands is an island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania, to the east of Papua New Guinea and north-west of Vanuatu. Alessandro Rosa Vieira (born 8 June 1977), known as Falcão, is a Brazilian retired professional futsal player. He is known for his flashy and potent dribbling skills and a powerful and accurate left foot. He is also the world's all-time leading goalscorer in men's international matches.
