James Dutton, 1st Baron Sherborne
James Naper Dutton, 1st Baron Sherborne (22 October 1744 – 22 May 1820), was a British peer. Background Sherborne was the son of James Lenox Dutton (originally James Lenox Naper), of Sherborne, Gloucestershire, by his second wife Jane, daughter of Christopher Bond. He was educated at Eton College (1755–1762) and Christ Church, Oxford (1763). Political career He was appointed High Sheriff of Gloucestershire for 1779–80 and was elected Member of Parliament for Gloucestershire in 1780, a seat he held until 1784. The latter year he was raised to the peerage as Lord Sherborne, Baron of Sherborne, in the County of Gloucester. Investments In 1809 he became the major investor of the Gloucester and Cheltenham Railway Company, subscribing £10,000 of the £26,000 capital. Family Lord Sherborne married Elizabeth, daughter of Wenman Coke and sister of the future Earl of Leicester, in 1774. James Henry Legge Dutton, 3rd Baron Sherborne (30 May 1804 – 8 March 1883), was a British peer. Background Sherborne was the son of John Dutton, 2nd Baron Sherborne, of Sherborne, Gloucestershire, by his wife, Hon. Mary Bilson Legge (1780–1864), daughter of Henry Legge, 2nd Baron Stawell and Hon. Mary Curzon. Family Lord Sherborne married Lady Elizabeth Howard (1803–1845), daughter of Thomas Howard, 16th Earl of Suffolk and Hon. Elizabeth Jane Dutton, on 22 June 1826. James Huntly Dutton, 6th Baron Sherborne, DSO (5 March 1873 – 17 September 1949), was a British peer. Background Sherborne was the son of Colonel Hon. Charles Dutton (1842–1909), by his wife, May Arbuthnot Taylor (1849–1943). He was born in Fatchgarn, India where his father was Aide-de-camp to Frederick Roberts, Commander-in-Chief, India. His father was also Assistant Quarter-Master General, Afghan War 1878–80. James Huntly Dutton was the grandson of James Henry Legge Dutton, 3rd Baron Sherborne and inherited the barony of Sherborne when both his uncles, Edward Dutton, 4th Baron Sherborne and Frederick Dutton, 5th Baron Sherborne died childless (their younger brother Hon. Charles Dutton having predeceased them). James Patrick "Mash" Dutton, Jr. (born November 20, 1968) is an engineer, former NASA astronaut pilot of the Class of 2004 (NASA Group 19), and a former test pilot in the US Air Force with the rank of colonel. Education Dutton was born November 20, 1968, in Eugene, Oregon, where he received his early education; he attended Cal Young Middle School then graduated from Sheldon High School. He joined the Air Force and graduated first in his class from the United States Air Force Academy in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering. Along with being awarded the top cadet in order of graduation, in an unprecedented feat, he also received the top military cadet, top academic cadet, top pilot and top engineering student awards. He has subsequently earned in 1994 a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the University of Washington.
