Sir James Donaldson (26 April 1831 – March 1915) was a Scottish classical scholar, and educational and theological writer. Life Donaldson was born in Aberdeen on 26 April 1831. He was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School, Marischal College, Aberdeen, New College, London, and Berlin University. In 1854 he was appointed Rector of the Stirling High School where he remained for two years, before leaving for the Royal High School of Edinburgh, of which he was appointed Rector in 1866. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1867, his proposer being Alexander Keith Johnston. He became in 1881 Professor of Humanity in the University of Aberdeen, and in 1886 Principal of he United Colleges of St andrews (renamed the University of St Andrews in 1890 by the Universities (Scotland) Act). James Lee Donaldson III (born August 16, 1957) is an English-American retired professional basketball player who grew up in California and played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association and several leagues across Europe. Born in Heacham, England, Donaldson played high school basketball for Luther Burbank High School in California before enrolling at Washington State University to play for the Cougars. Amateur career Donaldson, a 7'2" center, starred at Luther Burbank High School and Washington State in the late 1970s. In his 4 seasons at WSU he averaged 8.5 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game in 84 games. Sir James Donaldson (10 December 1751 – 16 December 1830) was a Scottish printer and newspaper publisher. He bequeathed a large part of his estate to the founding of Donaldson's Hospital. Early life Donaldson was born near the Mercat Cross in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1751.
