James DeBarge
James Curtis DeBarge (born August 22, 1963) is an American R&B/soul singer. He was one of the members of the singing family vocal group DeBarge who became famous with their mid-1980s songs " All This Love", "Love Me in a Special Way", " Rhythm of the Night", and "Who's Holding Donna Now". Early life and career He is the seventh child born to Robert DeBarge Sr. and Etterlene Abney DeBarge. Like all of his siblings, he was born and raised on the East Side of Detroit, Michigan. The family later relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan. As of 2000, DeBarge has worked with DJ Quik on such tracks as "Tha Divorce Song", as well as "Get Nekkid" by slain rapper Mausberg. Also, in 2004, DeBarge made a song with the "Haitian Sensation" Won-G for a remix called "Nothing's Wrong", using the instrumental for the Quik/DeBarge track "Tha Divorce Song". Debarge also made a small guest appearance in 2006 on the album ''818 Antics'', by rapper J-Ro, who is associated with the rap group Tha Liks. ...

"Love Me In a Special Way" is a single by DeBarge, released on November 20, 1983. It was the second and final single from their third studio album, ''In a Special Way'' on the Gordy label. Overview The song was written, composed, arranged and produced by lead singer, El DeBarge, who mixed his modal tenor vocals with his high falsetto notes. The song includes a melodica solo by Stevie Wonder, a fellow Motown recording artist. The single reached number 45 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 11 on the R&B singles chart and increased the group's fan base as the group emerged as superstars that year. The single would later be covered by IMx, Tamia, and Kim Burrell, and would be sampled by rapper AZ on a similarly titled single, which featured sampled recordings of El's chorus line from the song. Mary Jane Girls
The Mary Jane Girls were an American girl group formed in 1983, best known for their songs "In My House", " All Night Long", "Candy Man", and their cover version of " Walk Like a Man". They were protégées of musician Rick James and disbanded in 1987. Joanne "Jojo" McDuffie was the lead singer, the others filling out the group's style and appearance. On the studio recordings, McDuffie was backed by session vocalists rather than the other Mary Jane Girls. The group released two albums in the 1980s, and recorded a third – which was shelved for decades but finally released in 2014, as part of a larger retrospective of Rick James' work.
