James Connolly (rugby Union)
James Connolly (born 19 April 1993) is a professional rugby union player from Ireland. He primarily plays as a flanker. Connolly most recently played professionally for Irish provincial side Connacht in the Pro14, after coming through the province's academy. Early life Connolly was born in Dublin city and raised in Naas, County Kildare. A graduate of Newbridge College, he started playing rugby with his local club Naas RFC at under-7 level. Connolly represented the college in the Leinster Junior Cup 2008 and the Leinster Senior Cup in 2011, being named Forward of the Year in the latter. After finishing secondary education, Connolly attended IT Carlow while he was part of the Connacht Rugby under-age set up. Following this, he undertook a degree in Strength and Conditioning at Setanta College. The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) ( ga, Cumann Rugbaí na hÉireann) is the body managing rugby union in the island of Ireland (both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland). RFU Championship
The RFU Championship is an English rugby union competition comprising twelve clubs. It is the second level of men’s English rugby and is played by both professional and semi-professional players. The competition has existed since 1987, when English clubs were first organised into leagues. Organisation and format The Championship is governed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). The current competition format is a double round-robin tournament, where teams play each other home and away. The 2021-22 season had no playoff phase, and no team was promoted to the Premiership as no team met the minimum standards criteria. The 2015–16 European Rugby Champions Cup-Challenge Cup play-off was the second play-off for entry into the top level competition of European Club rugby union, the European Rugby Champions Cup. Format Following the two-team play-off in 2014–15, an expanded, four-team format was due to be used. However, on 24 September 2014, it was announced this would instead be a three-team play-off, with the highest placed non-qualifying team taking part. To accommodate the longer season in the French Top 14, the format was announced as follows: *One team each would qualify from the Premiership and the Pro12, with each league being represented by the highest placed team not already qualified. Gloucester Rugby
Gloucester Rugby are a professional rugby union club based in the West Country city of Gloucester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby, as well as in the European Rugby Champions Cup. The club was formed in 1873 and since 1891 has played its home matches at Kingsholm Stadium, on the fringes of the city centre. European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) is the governing body and organiser of the two major European rugby union club tournaments: the European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. A third tournament, the European Rugby Challenge Cup Qualifying Competition was introduced as a qualification competition for clubs from minor nations to enter the Challenge Cup. EPCR shared control of this tournament with Rugby Europe, the international federation for rugby union in Europe, and with the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR). Aviron Bayonnais ( eu, Baionako Arrauna), commonly called Bayonne, is a French rugby union club from Bayonne (''Baiona'', in Basque) in Pyrénées-Atlantiques which, for the 2016-17 season, competed in the top tier of the French league system, in the Top 14 competition.
