James Collins (nutritionist)
James Nicholas Collins (born 1981) is a sports nutritionist, author, strategist and commentator. He is best known for his former role as Head of Nutrition at Arsenal Football Club. Current work He is the founder and managing director of Intra Performance Group, an international consultancy working with prominent organisations in elite sport and entertainment, including Chelsea Football Club. He was a project lead for the 2020 UEFA Expert Group Statement on Nutrition in Elite Football, bringing together an international team of 31 researchers and practitioners to deliver the best-practice guidelines within football. This landmark process included Arsène Wenger delivering ‘The Coaches Perspective on Nutrition’. The English Institute of Sport (EIS), established in May 2002, is an organisation which provides sport science and medical support services to elite athletes through a nationwide network of expertise and facilities, working with Olympic and Paralympic summer and winter sports, as well as English and a number of professional sports. Structure A grant funded organisation through UK Sport, Olympic and Paralympic sports are able to engage with EIS services through their World Class Programme funding from UK Sport, English sports through their Sport England funding and professional sports through their respective funding bodies. Team GB is the brand name used since 1999 by the British Olympic Association (BOA) for their British Olympic team. The brand was developed after the nation's poor performance in the 1996 Summer Olympics, and is now a trademark of the BOA. It is meant to unify the team as one body, irrespective of each member athlete's particular sport. Officially, the team is the "Great Britain and Northern Ireland Olympic Team", although athletes from Northern Ireland may opt to compete under the auspices of the Olympic Federation of Ireland instead. ''Sport Relief'' was a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, established in 2002. It was the idea of Kevin Cahill, CBE, who had joined Comic Relief in 1991 to establish a new department as Director of Education and Communications and went on to become its creative director and CEO. Now joint Honorary Life President with Sir Lenny Henry, Cahill joined having created the Education Department at the National Theatre in London and been its first Head. The Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) is a medical society in the United Kingdom, headquartered in London. History The Society was established in 1805 as Medical and Chirurgical Society of London, meeting in two rooms in barristers’ chambers at Gray's Inn and then moving to Lincoln's Inn Fields where it stayed for 25 years. In 1834 the Society moved to Berners Street and was granted a Royal Charter by King William IV.
