Jim Cassidy (footballer)
Jim Cassidy was a Scottish footballer who played most of his career as a centre-forward for Bolton Wanderers in the late 19th century. Cassidy was born in Kilmarnock on 2 December 1869 and started his football career at Kilmarnock, before moving on to Glasgow Hibernian. In 1889, Cassidy joined Bolton where he remained (with short spells with Carfin Shamrock and Celtic) for 9 seasons, making 219 appearances, scoring 101 goals. In an FA Cup tie against Sheffield United on 1 February 1890, Cassidy scored 5 goals in a 13–0 rout, with a further 4 goals coming from Davie Weir. Cassidy also scored Bolton's consolation goal in the 1894 FA Cup Final – Bolton were 4-0 down to Notts County when, with three minutes to play, County's goalkeeper George Toone came out to meet a Bolton attack only to slip while attempting to clear and leave Cassidy with one of the easiest cup final goals of all time. James Edwin Cassidy (August 1, 1869 – May 17, 1951) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Fall River in Massachusetts from 1934 until his death in 1951. Biography Early life James Cassidy was born on August 1, 1869, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to James and Mary (née Byrne) Cassidy. His father was from County Waterford and his mother from County Armagh in Ireland. James Cassidy attended St. Charles College in Ellicott City, Maryland, and St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore. He continued his studies at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. Priesthood Cassidy was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Matthew A. James Joseph Cassidy (2 May 1878 – 3 April 1956 ) was an Australian rules football coach who coached Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Cassidy played and coached Footscray in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) prior to his appointment as senior VFL coach. He coached Footscray to the 1908 and 1913 VFA premierships, then later worked at Footscray as a club trainer. In the 1926 VFL season The 1926 VFL season was the 30th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. James Cassidy, also known as Creepy Cassidy and Jim Pedo, is an American musician and educator who is one of the founding members of the band Information Society (InSoc). He played bass and keyboards with the band from its beginning in the early 1980s until 1992, when the group released its final album as a trio, '' Peace & Love, Inc.'' After the band dissolved, Cassidy left the music business and enrolled at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, earning an Associate of Science degree in fisheries technology. Jim Cassidy (born 21 January 1963), often referred to as "Jimmy" is a retired New Zealand jockey who has been inducted in both the Australian Racing Hall of Fame and the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame.
