James Carroll (actor)
James "Jimmy" Carroll (December 20, 1955 – April 27, 2016) was an American-born Canadian actor and radio personality, best known for playing Max Sutton on ''Wind at My Back'', which aired on CBC Television from 1996 to 2001. Most recently, Carroll found a second career as a community radio host and personality based in Huntsville, Ontario. Carroll initially joined Hunters Bay Radio (CKAR-FM) in 2010 as the host of a local afternoon radio show. However, he soon became involved in the growth of the community station, hosting a Top 20 countdown, a Motown show on Mondays, and a local talent show. Carroll helped Hunters Bay Radio expand from its origins as a small, online station broadcast from a household basement into a full FM radio station with a staff of 60 employees by 2016. James Milton Carroll (January 8, 1852 – January 10, 1931) was an American Baptist pastor, leader, historian, author, and educator. Early life and education James Milton Carroll was one of twelve children born to Benajah and Mary Eliza (Mallard) Carroll. His father was a Baptist minister. Born near Monticello, Arkansas, he moved in 1858 at age six with his family to Burleson County, Texas. Carroll was orphaned by age seventeen. Jim Carroll (born Tipperary in 1968) is an Irish music journalist, blogger and editor who is currently employed by ''The Irish Times''. He runs a blog titled "On the Record" for the newspaper. Carroll is a co-founder of the Choice Music Prize, an annual music award given to one Irish album from ten nominations. He also has a radio programme on Dublin's Phantom FM. In 1997 he founded the internet music magazine ''Muse''. Views Carroll uses his "On the Record" blog to air his views. James Dennis Carroll (August 1, 1949 – September 11, 2009) was an American author, poet, autobiographer, and punk musician. Carroll was best known for his 1978 autobiographical work '' The Basketball Diaries'', which inspired a 1995 film of the same title that starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Carroll, and his 1980 song "People Who Died" with the Jim Carroll Band. Early life Carroll was born to a working-class family of Irish descent, and grew up in New York City's Lower East Side. When he was about 11 (in the sixth grade) his family moved north to Inwood in Upper Manhattan. He was taught by the LaSalle Christian Brothers. In fall 1963, he entered Rice High School in Harlem, but was soon awarded a scholarship to the elite Trinity School. He attended Trinity from 1964 to 1968. James Rawson Carroll (1830 – November 30, 1911) was an Irish architect who was involved in many projects throughout Ireland during the Victorian Era. He was a founding partner of the Carroll & Batchelor architectural firm in 1892, alongside Frederick Batchelor. Life Born in Dublin in 1830, James was the youngest son of Thomas Carroll, of Leinster Street and Waterloo Road. He had four known siblings, three brothers - Thomas, Howard and Charles - and a sister whose name is unknown but was the mother of architect John Howard Pentland. He was educated in Delgany, County Wicklow and was admitted to the Royal Dublin Society's School of Drawing in Architecture in 1846. He was subsequently articled to George Fowler Jones of York, England and worked as his assistant until 1856.
