''James Bond Jr.'' is an American Animated series, animated television series based on Ian Fleming's James Bond, ''James Bond'' franchise. It follows the adventures of James Bond (literary character), James Bond's nephew, James Bond Jr. The series debuted in September 1991 and ran for 65 episodes before ending in March 1992. It is the only television series ever produced based on the Bond franchise. Background This was the second attempt to create an animated series based on the Bond franchise. Bond screenwriter Kevin McClory announced in a February 10, 1988 issue of Variety, that he was working to produce an animated James Bond series called ''James Bond vs. S.P.E.C.T.R.E.'', to be produced by an unnamed Dutch company. Spy fiction is a genre of literature involving espionage as an important context or plot device. It emerged in the early twentieth century, inspired by rivalries and intrigues between the major powers, and the establishment of modern intelligence agencies. United Artists Corporation (UA), currently doing business as United Artists Digital Studios, is an American digital production company. Founded in 1919 by D. W. Griffith, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks, the studio was premised on allowing actors to control their own interests, rather than being dependent upon commercial studios. Felix Leiter
Felix Leiter is a fictional character created by Ian Fleming in the ''James Bond'' books, films and other media. The character is an operative for the CIA and Bond's friend. After losing a leg and his hand to a shark attack, Leiter joined the Pinkerton Detective Agency. The name "Felix" comes from the middle name of Fleming's friend Ivar Bryce, while the name "Leiter" was the surname of Fleming's friend Marion Oates Leiter Charles, the then wife of Thomas Leiter. Leiter also appeared in novels by continuation authors, as well as ten films and one television episode, " Casino Royale", where the character became a British agent, Clarence Leiter, played by Michael Pate. Q is a fictional character in the James Bond films and film novelisations. Q (standing for Quartermaster), like M (James Bond), M, is a job title rather than a name. He is the head of Q Branch (or later Q Division), the fictional research and development division of the Secret Intelligence Service, British Secret Service. The use of letters as pseudonyms for senior officers in the British Secret Intelligence Service was started by its first director, Captain Sir Mansfield Smith-Cumming, Mansfield George Smith-Cumming (1859–1923) who signed himself with a C written in green ink. "Casino Royale" is a live 1954 television adaptation of the 1953 novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. An episode of the American dramatic anthology series ''Climax!'', the show was the first screen adaptation of a James Bond novel, and stars Barry Nelson, Peter Lorre, and Linda Christian. Though this marks the first onscreen appearance of the secret agent, Nelson's Bond is played as an American spy working for the "Combined Intelligence Agency". Most of the largely forgotten show was uncovered by film historian Jim Schoenberger in 1981, with the ending (including credits) found later. Both copies are black and white kinescopes, but the original live broadcast was in colour. Kevin O'Donovan McClory (8 June 1924 – 20 November 2006) was an Irish screenwriter, film producer, and film director. McClory was best known for producing the James Bond film '' Thunderball'' and for his legal battles with the character's creator, Ian Fleming (later United Artists, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Eon Productions). Early years McClory was born in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, in 1924, to noted actor Thomas John O'Donovan McClory (stage name Desmond O'Donovan) and Winifrede (née Doran), a writer, teacher and actress. He suffered from dyslexia. McClory's ancestry goes back to the famous Brontë family. Commander James Bond is a character created by the British journalist and novelist Ian Fleming in 1953. He is the protagonist of the ''James Bond'' series of novels, films, comics and video games. Fleming wrote twelve Bond novels and two short story collections.
