James Beresford (writer)
James Beresford (28 May 1764 – 29 September 1840) was a writer and clergyman. He was born in Upham in Hampshire and educated at Charterhouse School and became a fellow of Merton College, Oxford. He made translations and wrote religious books, but was chiefly known as the author of a satirical work, ''The Miseries of Human Life'', considered to be a "minor classic in the genre". Beresford also wrote under the pseudonyms An Aspirant, Ignato Secudno, Samuel Sensitive and Timothy Testy. He was rector of Kibworth from 1812 until his death. James Beresford (baseball)
James Richard Beresford (born 19 January 1989) is an Australian former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball in 2016 for the Minnesota Twins. Career Beresford played with the Waverly Baseball Club where he was named as club MVP before being signed with the Twins organization in 2005 at age 16. He debuted for the Victoria Aces in Claxton Shield 2006 replacing Justin Huber after he withdrew. Due to a torn labrum, he missed the 2006 minor league season. In the 2007 Claxton Shield, he averaged .304 for Australian Provincial. He returned to the US in 2007 making his debut and hitting a .288/.349/.302 clip as the starting shortstop for the GCL Twins. He played again in Claxton Shield 2008 and went 2 for 7. In the 2008 minor league season, he batted a .246/.345/.285 clip for the Elizabethton Twins. In 2009, he was named in the final Australia national baseball team for the 2009 World Baseball Classic in March, and was again selected for the 2009 Baseball ...

James Beresford (footballer, Born 1860)
James Beresford was a footballer who played in the Football League for Blackburn Rovers. Playing career In 1882 Beresford signed for his home town club Staveley. He then moved South and joined an Accrington Football Club called Church F.C. During the 1883-84 season he moved to Accrington and caused them to be expelled from the FA Cup after playing for Accrington in a Cup tie against Rossendale. Accrington won 5–1 and Beresford scored twice. Beresford returned to Church F.C. but was paid to remain on the books of Accrington. The FA find out and charged Accrington with breaking the rules and expelling them from the FA Cup.
