James Bay Athletic Association
The James Bay Athletic Association is a Canadian rugby club based in Victoria, British Columbia. The JBAA were formed in 1886 and are said to be the oldest sports organization west of Montreal. James Bay play their home games at MacDonald Park in Victoria, British Columbia. JBAA play rugby from September through April, running three men’s rugby teams, a women’s team, and Under-19 and Under 16 youth teams. History JBAA has won 54 Vancouver Island Barnard Cup championships – and a record 24 British Columbia Rounsefell Cup championships. In the 2005/2006 season, JBAA won the Barnard Cup, the Rounsefell Cup, and the inaugural Canada Club Championship. The British Columbia Men's Premier League is a provincial rugby union competition currently contested by twelve clubs in British Columbia, Canada and one in the U.S. state of Washington. The BC Premier League is organized by the British Columbia Rugby Union. The league currently consists of teams from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Washington state. Clubs play each other twice throughout the regular season. The top six teams are then seeded and qualify for two rounds of playoffs. The top two teams from the semi-finals then face each other at the BC Rugby Club Finals in May. History The teams compete for the prestigious Rounsefell Cup. The trophy was donated by F.W. Hans De Goede
Hans de Goede (born 13 February 1953, in Amsterdam) is a Dutch-born Canadian former rugby union player who played as lock. Career Before his rugby career, de Goede practiced football, playing three games for Victoria Dolphins. Later, at Central Junior High School, he started playing rugby. He later started his club career leading Vic High team to the final of the Howard Russell Cup in 1971. Later he played for James Bay Athletic Association, where he would play for 20 years. He also played for BC Bears at provincial level, of which he was captain, 30 matches for Cardiff RFC in Wales and for Vancouver Island Crimson Tide at regional level between 1972 and 1987. Phil Mack
Phil Mack (born 18 September 1985 in Victoria, British Columbia) is a rugby union scrum-half who played for the Seattle Seawolves in Major League Rugby (MLR). He was the Seawolves head coach, winning an MLR Championship Shield in 2018. He also plays for the Canada national rugby union team. Roy E. Radu (born September 11, 1963 in Burnaby, British Columbia) is a former Canadian national rugby player of Romanian descent.
