James Adams (entrepreneur)
James Adams is an American journalist, author, entrepreneur and expert on covert warfare. Adams is currently senior advisor at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. Adams was born in Newcastle, England, where he spent his childhood. In 1991, he immigrated to the United States, becoming a citizen in 1997. Adams ran the intelligence operations for an innovative LA-based company and then founded the Ashland Institute for Strategic Studies, a virtual intelligence organization, and iDefense, a cyber intelligence agency. He also served as CEO of United Press International. Adams is an expert on warfare and intelligence, and has written 20 best-selling fiction and non-fiction books on the subjects. ''Mean Machines'' was a multi-format video game magazine published between 1990 and 1992 in the United Kingdom. ILOVEYOU, sometimes referred to as Love Bug or Love Letter for you, is a computer worm that infected over ten million Windows personal computers on and after 5 May 2000. It started spreading as an email message with the subject line "ILOVEYOU" and the attachment "LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs." At the time, Windows computers often hid the latter file extension (" VBS," a type of interpreted file) by default because it is an extension for a file type that Windows knows, leading unwitting users to think it was a normal text file.
