Joel Jalmari Ruokokoski, known as Jali (1886-1936) was a Finnish Expressionism, Expressionist painter. Although most of his works were landscapes and still-lifes, he is probably best known for a series of portraits (including numerous self-portraits) painted mostly during the 1910s. Jalmari Holopainen
Hjalmar "Jalmari" Holopainen (29 June 1892 – 3 April 1954) was a Finnish football player who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He was a defender. In the 1912 Summer Olympics, he played all four matches that Finland played. During his career, he played the first six international matches with the Finnish national football team The Finland national football team ( fi, Suomen jalkapallomaajoukkue, sv, Finlands fotbollslandslag) represents Finland in men's international football competitions and is controlled by the Football Association of Finland, the governing body .... Jalmari Sauli
Jalmari Verneri Sauli (born Hjalmar Verner Saxelin; 17 August 1889 – 22 April 1957) was a Finnish writer and track and field athlete who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. Athletics Olympics Sauli entered five events at the 1908 Olympics. Records Sauli posted 25.38 metres in two-handed shot put in Stockholm on 13 September 1908. This was declared a world record. Sauli became the first Finn to exceed 14 metres in shot put, when he put 14.06 metres on 5 September 1908. White Guard Sauli joined the Mänttä White Guard as it was taking form in November 1917 and became its chief of logistics. He was wounded in the Finnish Civil War. Jalmari Parikka
Hjalmar Fabian Parikka (16 October 1891 – 27 March 1959) was a Finnish revolutionary soldier, actor and artistic director. Life Jalmari Parikka was born in the Eastern Finnish town of Sortavala and went to school in the Russian capital Saint Petersburg. Parikka started his acting career in 1910 as a member of a touring theatre in Kajaani, where he had learned the profession of a typesetter. As the 1918 Finnish Civil War broke out, Parikka was head the Worker's Theatre in Enso. Soon he was named as the commander of the local Red Guard. During the Battle of Vyborg, Parikka was one of the Red Guard leaders in charge of the city's defense. He was captured by the Whites and was given the death penalty which was later turned into a life in prison. After the 1921 general pardon, Parikka worked as an artistic director in the Worker's Theatres of Pori and Vyborg and the theaters of Mikkeli and Vaasa. Jalmari Jaakkola
Kaarle Jalmari Jaakkola (1 January 1885 – 12 February 1964) was a Finnish historian and a professor of Finnish history at the University of Helsinki between 1932 and 1954. Jaakkola is known as a historian who primarily researched medieval history and sought to put forth that Finland existed as an entity already during that period. Some of Jaakkola's hypotheses are today considered to be overtly nationalist and outdated, but his influence during his lifetime remains undisputed. His other research interests included the historical origins of the Birkarls and Kvens, and the historical background of Kalevala epic poetry.
