Jalgaon Airport
Jalgaon Airport is a domestic airport located off National Highway 753F southeast of the city of Jalgaon in Maharashtra, India. It has flights to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, Nanded Airport, Nanded, and Kolhapur Airport, Kolhapur operated by TruJet. Jalgaon Airport is 47 km away from the Ajanta Caves for which it is its closest airport. History Jalgaon Airport was built in 1973 by the Public Works Department. The Jalgaon Municipal Council took over its operations from April 1997 and handed it over to the Maharashtra Airport Development Company in April 2007. The Airports Authority of India, or AAI, is a public sector enterprise under the ownership of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. A precision approach path indicator (PAPI) is a visual aid that provides guidance information to help a pilot to acquire and maintain the correct approach (in the vertical plane) to an airport or an aerodrome. It is generally located on the left-hand side of the runway approximately 300 meters beyond the landing threshold of the runway. In aviation, distance measuring equipment (DME) is a radio navigation technology that measures the slant range (distance) between an aircraft and a ground station by timing the propagation delay of radio signals in the frequency band between 960 and 1215 megahertz (MHz). Line-of-visibility between the aircraft and ground station is required.
