Jalan Bani Bu Ali
Jalan Bani Bu Ali () is a commercial town and tourist destination in Oman. There are many shops and supermarkets, but most famous is the traditional souq. This suq is in the south of the town about 1km from the centre and is open on Friday morning. In this suq there are many modern and traditional goods. Also there are many wadis which contain different types of trees and fascinatingly shaped sand dunes with pools of standing water between them. These islands of vegetation play a role in creating a micro-climate. In summer when everywhere in Oman is hot, Jalan has its own special rainy season which affects the harvest of agricultural products. The coast receives many visitors from different parts of the world. Regions Of Oman
Oman is divided into eleven governorates (''muhafazah''), and has been since 28 October 2011. Each of the 11 governorates are divided into ''wilayat'' (provinces). Regions and governorates before 2011 Before 28 October 2011, Oman was divided into five regions (''mintaqah'') and four governorates (''muhafazah''). The governorates were Muscat, Dhofar, Buraimi and Musandam. Buraimi was created in October 2006 from parts of Ad Dhahirah Region. The regions are further subdivided into 61 wilayat. Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate ( ar, مُحَافَظَة جَنُوب ٱلشَّرْقِيَّة, Muḥāfaẓat Janūb aš-Šarqīyah, English: Southeastern Governorate) is a governorate of Oman. It was created on 28 October 2011 when Ash Sharqiyah Region was split into Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate and Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate. The centre of the governorate is the Wilayat of Sur. Oman ( ; ar, عُمَان ' ), officially the Sultanate of Oman ( ar, سلْطنةُ عُمان ), is an Arabian country located in southwestern Asia. It is situated on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, and spans the mouth of the Persian Gulf. Beni Boo Alli (battle Honour)
The Bani Bu Ali expedition (1820–21) was a punitive campaign launched by the Sultan of Muscat and the East India Company against an Omani tribe known as the Bani Bu Ali in southeastern Arabia. It consisted of two expeditions. The first was the only land campaign Said bin Sultan conducted in Arabia during his long reign. It included a small allied British force and was defeated. The second, led by a more substantial British component, resulted in a decisive victory over the Bani Bu Ali. Company units engaged in the expedition received the "Beni Boo Alli" battle honour. Background The Bani Bu Ali tribe occupied the fortified village of Belad Bani Bu Ali (Place of the Sons of Ali) in Oman, in the hinterland of the Sultanate of Muscat, whose suzerainty the tribe nominally recognized. British East India Company
The East India Company (EIC) was an English, and later British, joint-stock company founded in 1600 and dissolved in 1874. It was formed to trade in the Indian Ocean region, initially with the East Indies (the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia), and later with East Asia. The company seized control of large parts of the Indian subcontinent, colonised parts of Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. At its peak, the company was the largest corporation in the world.
