Jalaa SC (men's Basketball)
Jalaa Sporting Club (), also known as Jeunesse Sportivo Alep (Shabibeh), is a Syrian basketball club based in the city of Aleppo. They compete in the Syrian Basketball League, and have qualified for the Asian Champions Cup on four occasions, with its best finish in 2006 and 2007, where they finished second on both occasions. Al Jalaa is the club with the largest number of titles in Syria and is the holder of the first Syrian basketball successes at the international level. History Jeunesse Sportivo Alep (Shabibeh), later known as Jalaa SC, was established under the name of the Catholic Youth Club and its headquarters was in Al-Aziziyah district. Syrian Basketball League
The Syrian Basketball League (), officially Syriatel Basketbal League, is the top-tier professional men's basketball league in Syria. It is organized annually as a national championship with playoffs and a national cup by the Syrian Basketball Federation. Both Aleppo teams, Jalaa SC and Al-Ittihad SC, dominated the league until 1993. History Jalaa SC, previously known as Shabibeh, dominated the league from 1956 until 1978. Then another team from Aleppo, Al-Ittihad SC, took all the titles until 1993. Later on, Damascus clubs Al Wahda and Al-Jaish SC won some titles sporadically. The 1972–73 FIBA European Champions Cup was the 16th installment of the European top-tier level professional basketball club competition FIBA European Champions Cup (now called EuroLeague). The Final was held at the Country Hall du Sart Tilman, in Liège, Belgium, on March 22, 1973. It was won by Ignis Varese for the second time in a row. Al-Jaish Sports Club () is a Syrian professional basketball club. It is a part of the Al-Jaish Sports Club, which is based in Damascus, Syria. Al Jaish is with seven SBL titles and three Syrian Cup victories one of the best clubs in Syria. History The club was founded in 1947 in Damascus as a sports division of the Syrian Army. The club did not make a significant impact until 2003, when it advanced to the Syrian Cup finals for the first time.
