Jakob Von Der Lippe
Jakob von der Lippe (28 July 1872 – 1953) was a Norwegian admiral. He was born in Fjell. He was a grandson of bishop Jacob von der Lippe and a son of dean Johan Nordahl Brun von der Lippe (1838–1915). Through his uncle Conrad Fredrik von der Lippe he was a first cousin once removed of Frits von der Lippe, Just Lippe and Jens von der Lippe. He had the same father, and was thus a half-brother, of Anton Barth von der Lippe. On 13 October 1916 von der Lippe was made the first regular director of the Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service, after the service was permanently organized and sorted under the Royal Norwegian Navy's shooting and signals school, which von der Lippe was the head of. On 14 February the following year von der Lippe was relieved of his position at the shooting and signals school and made full-time commander of the Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service. Anton Barth Von Der Lippe
Anton Barth von der Lippe (8 October 1886 – 1960) was a Norwegian whaler. He was born in Tjøme as a son of dean Johan Nordahl Brun von der Lippe (1838–1915) and his third wife. His father's second wife had the son Jakob von der Lippe, who was Anton's half-brother. Anton was also a grandson of bishop Jacob von der Lippe, nephew of Conrad Fredrik von der Lippe and first cousin once removed of Frits von der Lippe, Just Lippe and Jens von der Lippe. He established his own shipping company in 1915, and was particularly engaged in whaling. Between 1919 and 1945 he cooperated closely with Svend Foyn Bruun. Rear Admiral
Rear admiral is a senior naval flag officer rank, equivalent to a major general and air vice marshal and above that of a commodore and captain, but below that of a vice admiral. It is regarded as a two star "admiral" rank. It is often regarded as a two-star rank with a NATO code of OF-7. The term originated in the days of naval sailing squadrons and can trace its origins to the Royal Navy. Fjell
Fjell is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Midhordland. The municipality consisted of several islands west of the city of Bergen, the major ones being Litlesotra, the northern part of Store Sotra, Bildøy, Bjorøy, Misje, and Turøy. The administrative centre of Fjell is the village of Straume. Some of the villages in Fjell included Ågotnes, Fjell, Foldnes, Knappskog, Knarrevik, Kolltveit, Landro, and Sekkingstad. On 1 January 2020, the municipality became part of Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county. Due to the opening of the Sotra Bridge to the mainland in 1971 and its proximity to the city of Bergen, the population has grown from less than 7,000 to over 25,000 as of 2017. Jens Von Der Lippe
Jens von der Lippe (13 October 1911 – 17 June 1990) was a Norwegian ceramist, non-fiction writer and educator. He was born in Christiania, and was a brother of Frits von der Lippe and Just Lippe. He ran a ceramics workshop in Oslo in cooperation with his wife, Margrethe von der Lippe, and many of their works were co-productions. Just Lippe
Just Lippe (13 January 1904 – 24 March 1978) was a Norwegian journalist and politician for the Communist Party. He was born in Bergen as a son of Jakob von der Lippe (1870–1954). He was related to von der Lippes (as follows): brothers Frits and Jens, brother-in-law Margrethe, grandson of Conrad Fredrik, great-grandson of Bishop Jacob and first cousin once removed of Admiral Jakob and whaler Anton. He joined the Norwegian Labour Party in 1921, but joined the Communist Party when it split from Labour. In 1927 he was imprisoned (five weeks of detention, without conviction) together with Henry W. Kristiansen, Otto Luihn and Albin Eines, after a police raid in the party offices. He was a secretary in the Young Communist League of Norway from 1925 to 1929, and chaired the organization from 1927 to 1928.
