Jake Turner (footballer)
Jake Edward Turner (born 25 February 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for League Two club Gillingham. Early life Turner was born in Wilmslow, and grew up with older sister Millie, who is also a footballer. Club career Turner began his career at Bolton Wanderers, moving on loan to Stalybridge Celtic in December 2017, but was recalled without making a first-team appearance. He then moved on loan to Frickley Athletic in March 2018. He returned on loan to Stalybridge in August 2018, making 11 league and 1 cup appearances. He moved on loan to Darlington in March 2019. He signed for Newcastle United in July 2019, saying he was persuaded to do so by former Bolton teammate Sammy Ameobi, who had begun his career at Newcastle. Wilmslow
Wilmslow ( ) is a market town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England, south of Manchester city centre. The population was 24,497 at the 2011 Census. History Toponymy Wilmslow derives its name from Old English ''Wīghelmes hlāw'' = "mound of a man called Wīghelm." Lindow Man Much about the local Iron Age history of Wilmslow was uncovered with the discovery of Lindow Man, in Lindow Moss. Preserved in the peat bogs for 2,000 years, Lindow Man is one of the most important Iron Age finds in the country. Despite a campaign to keep Lindow Man in the area, he was transferred to the British Museum and is a central feature of the Iron Age exhibition. Millie Turner (born 7 July 1996) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Women's Super League club Manchester United. She has previously played for Everton and Bristol City, and has been capped by England at youth level. Club career Early career Millie grew up in Wilmslow with older brother Bruce and younger brother Jake, now a professional goalkeeper with Gillingham. At the age of 10 she began playing with Stockport County before moving to Manchester City and then Crewe Alexandra's highly regarded youth setup. When Crewe's Centre of Excellence folded she drew offers from both Merseyside giants Liverpool and Everton but turned them down in favour of Manchester United. Shamal Tyrell George (born 6 January 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Scottish Premiership side Livingston. Career Liverpool Born in Birkenhead, George signed for Liverpool in 2009 after playing for Manor. Samuel Oluwaseyi Jesutoromo Ameobi (born 1 May 1992) is a professional footballer who played most recently for Championship club Middlesbrough, although he has since been made a Free Agent. He is the younger brother of fellow players Shola and Tomi Ameobi. He began his career with Newcastle United, joining the club's youth academy in 2008. After progressing into the first team, he made his senior debut in May 2011.
