Jake Stewart (politician)
Jake Daniel Stewart (born March 10, 1978) is a Canadian politician who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2010 provincial election. He represented the electoral district of Southwest Miramichi as a member of the Progressive Conservatives. He resigned on August 17, 2021 and was elected the Conservative Member of Parliament for the riding of Miramichi—Grand Lake on September 20, 2021. Political career Stewart entered municipal politics in 2008, having run for the office of councillor in his hometown of Blackville. In 2010, he entered provincial politics, and defeated incumbent Liberal MLA Rick Brewer, who at that time was the Minister of Human Resources. Stewart was a member of the Standing Committees on Education, Private Bills, Procedure, Public Accounts, and Chaired the Standing Committee on Legislative Officers. Pat Finnigan
Patrick Finnigan (born 1955) is a Canadian Liberal Party of Canada, Liberal politician, who was elected to represent the electoral district (Canada), riding of Miramichi—Grand Lake in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2015 Canadian federal election, 2015 federal election. Finnigan and his wife started a bakery and garden centre in Nouvelle-Arcadie, called Mr. Tomato. Finnigan holds a technical diploma in phytology. He chaired the Canadian House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food, Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food. He did not run for reelection in the 2021 Canadian federal election. Blackville, New Brunswick
Blackville is a community, formerly an incorporated village, in Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada. It is located on the Southwest Miramichi River approximately southwest of Miramichi. History The first post office opened in the area in 1842, under the community name "Decantillon's"; the area known as The Forks was also serviced by this post office. In 1847, these areas collectively became known as Blackville, as the area was the largest population centre in the Parish of Blackville. The parish, created in 1830 when it was partitioned from the Parish of Ludlow, had been named in honour of William Black, the acting governor of the colony of New Brunswick from 1829 to 1831. Blackville was first incorporated as a village in 1967, annexing the neighbouring communities of Underhill and Breadalbane later that year. Jody Carr
Jody Rochelle Carr (born July 3, 1975) is a Canadian politician. He is a former member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, from 1999 to 2018, and served in the cabinet for part of 2006 as well as 2010-2014. Political career He first got involved with politics in 1993 just after graduating from Oromocto High School as class president by volunteering in the 1993 federal election. While still in university, Carr ran in the riding of Oromocto-Gagetown for the first time in the 1995 provincial election and was the youngest ever Progressive Conservative candidate for MLA in New Brunswick at the age of 20. Carr received 28% of the vote which was the best showing of all 8 PC candidates in the greater Fredericton Region. 2010 New Brunswick General Election
The 2010 New Brunswick general election was held on September 27, 2010, to elect 55 members to the 57th New Brunswick Legislative Assembly, the governing house of the province of New Brunswick, Canada. The incumbent Liberal government won 13 seats, while the opposition Progressive Conservatives won a landslide majority of 42 seats in the legislature.
