Jake Kaminski
Jake Kaminski (born August 11, 1988) is an American archer. Personal life Kaminski was born in Buffalo, New York and grew up in Elma, New York. As of August 2016, he resides in Gainesville, Florida with his wife Heather and children Kai and Genevieve. When not at home, he has resided in Chula Vista, California at the U.S. Olympic Training Center since 2006 to develop his archery skills. Archery career Kaminski started his archery career at the age of six near his hometown of Elma, New York, focusing on compound shooting at a Junior Olympic Development Club. By the age of 15, he focused his attention on recurve archery so he could one day compete in the Olympics. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed for the U.S. in the Men's team event and won a silver Olympic medal along with his teammates Brady Ellison and Jacob Wukie. Compound Bow
In modern archery, a compound bow is a bow that uses a levering system, usually of cables and pulleys, to bend the limbs. In general, compound bows are widely used in target practice and hunting. The pulley/cam system grants the user a mechanical advantage, and so the limbs of a compound bow are much stiffer than those of a recurve bow or longbow. This rigidity makes the compound bow more energy-efficient than other bows, as less energy is dissipated in limb movement. The higher-rigidity, higher-technology construction also improves accuracy by reducing the bow's sensitivity to changes in temperature and humidity. The pulley/cam system also confers a benefit called "let-off." As the string is drawn back, the cams rotate. The cams are eccentric rather than round, and so their effective radius changes as they rotate. Jacob Wukie
Jacob Wukie (born May 11, 1986, in Massillon, Ohio) is an American archer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed for his country in the Men's team event and the men's individual event. He won a silver Olympic medal along with his teammates Brady Ellison and Jake Kaminski. In the individual event he finished 12th in the ranking round, before eliminating Jayanta Talukdar in the first round. He was himself then knocked out by Bård Nesteng. He has qualified to represent the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Wukie, a devout Christian, is one of four children of John and Patty Wukie.
