''Jakandor, Land of Legend'' is a role-playing game supplement published by TSR for the second edition of ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons''. It is the third of three supplements about the Isle of Jakandor. Contents The first sourcebook about Jakandor, '' Island of War'', introduced the land of Jakandor, populated by two antagonistic societies: the barbarian Knorr, who have been exiled to this island by their patron deity for their sins, and the Charonti, a race of once mighty necromancers seeking to rediscover their past glory. The first book focused on the Knorr. The second book, ''Jakandor, Isle of Destiny'', described the mortal enemies of the Knorr, the Charoni. The third book in the trilogy, ''Jakandor, Land of Legend'', presents a number of adventures that are designed to move towards a final battle between the two cultures. TSR, Inc
TSR, Inc. was an American game publishing company, best known as the original publisher of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D''). Its earliest incarnation, Tactical Studies Rules, was founded in October 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Gygax had been unable to find a publisher for ''D&D'', a new type of game he and Dave Arneson were co-developing, so founded the new company with Kaye to self-publish their products. Needing financing to bring their new game to market, Gygax and Kaye brought in Brian Blume in December as an equal partner. ''Dungeons & Dragons'' is generally considered the first tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG), and established the genre. When Kaye died suddenly in 1975, the Tactical Studies Rules partnership restructured into TSR Hobbies, Inc. and accepted investment from Blume's father Melvin. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
Several different editions of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D'') fantasy role-playing game have been produced since 1974. The current publisher of ''D&D'', Wizards of the Coast, produces new materials only for the most current edition of the game. However, many ''D&D'' fans continue to play older versions of the game and some third-party companies continue to publish materials compatible with these older editions. After the original edition of ''D&D'' was introduced in 1974, the game was split into two branches in 1977: the rules-light system of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' and the more complex, rules-heavy system of ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' (''AD&D''). The standard game was eventually expanded into a series of five box sets by the mid-1980s before being compiled and slightly revised in 1991 as the ''Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia''. ''Jakandor, Island of War'' is a 1997 role-playing game supplement published by TSR for the second edition of ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons''. Contents ''Jakandor, Island of War'' is a supplement which introduces the land of Jakandor, populated by two antagonistic societies: the barbarian Knorr, who have been exiled to this island by their patron deity for their sins, and the Charonti, a race of necromancers. Dale A. Donovan is a game designer who has worked primarily on role-playing games. Career Dale Donovan began working in the hobby-gaming industry in 1989. Terese Nielsen
Terese Nielsen (born March 11, 1966) is an American freelance fantasy artist and illustrator. Early life, education, and family Nielsen was born in Aurora, Nebraska, in 1966. Nielsen's brother, Ron Spencer, is also an artist. In 1984 Nielsen followed her brother and relocated to Rexburg, Idaho, where they studied art at Ricks College. Upon completing her studies there, she studied at the Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in Pasadena, California, graduating with "great distinction" in 1991. She married Cliff Nielsen, another ACCD graduate, and they illustrated ''Ruins'' (1995); they have since divorced. She has four children and resides in Temple City, California, with her wife. Career Landmark Entertainment hired Nielsen to help design its themed amusement parks, and DC and Marvel Comics hired her to illustrate several superhero trading cards. Rob Lazzaretti is an artist whose work has appeared largely as a cartographer for roleplaying games, particularly the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game from TSR. Biography Rob Lazzaretti was born and raised in central Illinois. Evil Hat Productions is a company that produces role-playing games and other tabletop games. Chief among them is the free indie RPG, ''Fate'', which has won numerous awards. History Fred Hicks had been working with Lydia Leong, Rob Donoghue, and others to run LARPs at AmberCon NorthWest starting in 1999, and came up with the name Evil Hat for themselves. While on a trip to Lake Tahoe, friends Hicks and Donoghue developed a new game based on a conversation about running another ''Amber'' game and fixing some problems with ''FUDGE''; the result was ''Fate'' which Hicks and Donoghue would publish under the name Evil Hat.
