Primera División de México ''(Mexican First Division)'' Clausura 2007 is a Mexican football tournament - one of two short tournaments that take up the entire year - to determine the champion(s) of Mexican football. It began on Friday, January 19, 2007, and ran until April 29, when the regular season ended. UAG and UANL inaugurated the season with a match in which UAG won 2-1. Reigning champions Guadalajara were eliminated in semifinals by archrivals América and thus could not retain their title. Querétaro, who finished last in the percentage table, were relegated to Primera División A at the end of the season. On May 27, Pachuca defeated América 3-2 and became champions for the fifth time. The SuperLiga was an official North American association football competition between teams from the Liga MX of Mexico and Major League Soccer of the United States and Canada, the top divisions in each country. The competition was sanctioned by CONCACAF, U.S. Soccer, the Canadian Soccer Association and Federación Mexicana de Fútbol and served as the sub-regional championship for the North American section of CONCACAF, much like its Central American and Caribbean counterparts, the Copa Interclubes UNCAF and CFU Club Championship respectively. The 2006 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes, officially the 2006 Copa Nissan Sudamericana de Clubes for sponsorship reasons, was an international football championship competition that was played by 34 teams in total, including 31 CONMEBOL teams and also three invited teams from CONCACAF. Pachuca won their first title in history after defeating Colo-Colo tying 1–1 in the first leg in Mexico, and winning 2–1 in Chile. Pachuca only lost one game in the tournament, against Colombian Deportes Tolima 2–1 in their debut. This was the second time a Mexican club reached the final, after UNAM lost the 2005 edition to Boca Juniors. Meanwhile, this was also the first time a Chilean club arrived to a final since the tournament's inauguration in 2002. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, named as ''Copa Sudamericana'' (; pt, Copa Sul-Americana ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 2002. It is the second-most prestigious club competition in South American football. CONCACAF clubs were invited between 2004 and 2008. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana began in 2002, replacing the separate competitions Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur (that had replaced Copa CONMEBOL) by a single competition. Since its introduction, the competition has been a pure elimination tournament with the number of rounds and teams varying from year to year.
