Jahphet Landis
Jahphet Negast Landis (born 1984), known professionally as Roofeeo, is a Panamanian Drummer, DJ, and Music Producer. He is known for his participation in the Art Punk band The Death Set. Landis has a longstanding association with TV On The Radio, playing drums for the band after the death of bassist Gerard Smith and drummer Jaleel Bunton's move to Bass & Keys. He has also recorded/ played drums for Björk, Kanye West, Santigold, Spank Rock, Amanda Blank, Ninjasonik, and Theophilus London. Landis was born in Panama on June 13, 1984. He moved to Brooklyn, New York at a young age where he learned to play drums in a local church. In 2008 Landis began DJing. First Avenue (nightclub)
First Avenue & 7th St Entry are two historic music venues housed in the same landmark building in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The nightclub sits on the corner of First Avenue North and 7th Street North, from which the venues get their names. The two are colloquially distinguished by locals as The Mainroom and The Entry. The building was constructed in 1937 as the Minneapolis depot of the Greyhound Lines bus system and operated for 31 years. Allan Fingerhut purchased the facility in 1970 and converted it into a nightclub. During the 1980s, First Avenue flourished and became a landmark in the music and entertainment industry, playing a seminal role in establishing the '80s funk rock sub genre via the Minneapolis sound, and being the primary local venue for hometown star Prince. Amanda Blank (born Amanda Mallory McGrath; March 21, 1983) is an American singer, rapper and member of the performance art band Sweatheart based in Philadelphia. Early life Amanda Blank was born in Germantown, a neighborhood in northwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1983. Ninjasonik are a Brooklyn-based rap duo composed of frontman Telli and DJ-turned-vocalist Jah-Jah. Biography Ninjasonik started in late 2006-early 2007 when fellow DJ's Jah Jah Brown and Kevin Ross began writing and recording songs in Bushwick, NY. The original songs were best described as sarcastic incantations which lyrically played with themes like pregnancy and racial identities. The Death Set
The Death Set (also typeset as TheDeathSet or The DeathSet) is an experimental music band with roots in punk rock, sometimes referred to as art punk. The band formed in 2005 in Sydney. Six months after its inception, the band moved to the United States, living in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Brooklyn respectively, where the band found an audience for its style of experimental, cross genre, punk rock. Moving after less than two years in each city the band has been nomadic, yet thrived in each base. All members now currently live in Brooklyn, New York.
