Jaheel Hyde
Jaheel Hyde (born 2 February 1997) is a Jamaican track and field athlete. He was the 2014 world junior champion in the 400 metres hurdles and the 2013 world youth champion in the 110 metres hurdles. He won a gold medal in the 110 m hurdles at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Athletics in Donetsk, Ukraine, setting a new championship record for the event and coming .01 seconds shy of tying the World Youth Best held by Wilhem Belocian. In 2014, he won the gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles at the World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon, then the 100 metres hurdles at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, beating Belocian's World Youth Best with a time of 12.96 seconds. Track And Field
Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. 2016 World Junior Championships In Athletics
The 2016 World U20 Championships in Athletics was an international athletics competition for athletes qualifying as juniors (born no earlier than 1 January 1997) which was held at Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium in Bydgoszcz, Poland on 19–24 July 2016. It was the first time the competition had been held under the new name, having previously been known as World Junior Championships in Athletics. The championships were originally awarded to Kazan, Russia before the hosting rights were withdrawn as a result of ARAF being suspended by the IAAF. Since then, three cities expressed an interest in hosting the championships; on 7 January 2016, the decision was made to reallocate the championships to Bydgoszcz as it was the only city to submit a bid. The medal table was topped by the United States with 11 gold, 6 silver, and 4 bronze medals, followed by Kenya and Ethiopia. 2015 CARIFTA Games
The 2015 CARIFTA Games took place between 3 and 6 April 2015. The event was held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium in Bird Rock, south-eastern suburb of Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis. During the games, the stadium was officially renamed the "Kim Collins National Athletic Stadium" in honour of the country's 2003 100m world champion Kim Collins. The 2014 CARIFTA Games were held from April 19–21, 2014 at the Stade Pierre Aliker in Fort-de-France, Martinique. A detailed report of the event was given for the IAAF. For the first time, the youth competition was open for athletes aged under-18 rather than under-17. The event served as regional trials for the athletics competitions at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. 2013 CARIFTA Games
The 2013 CARIFTA Games took place between March 30-April 1, 2013. The event was held at the Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. A report of the event was given for the IAAF. The games mark the seventh time in which the event was held in The Bahamas. The other years being 1976, 1978, 1981, 1984, 1992 and 2002. Bidding Process Bidding took place during the 2012 CARIFTA Games held in Bermuda. Initially four countries, namely the Bahamas, Barbados, the Cayman Islands and Martinique, had showed some interest in hosting the games. But ultimately Martinique withdrew its bid in favour of the Bahamas, and Barbados did not come forward with an official bid. The Bahamas was eventually chosen over the Cayman Islands to host the event. This was attributed to a myriad of reasons such as the newly constructed Thomas Robinson Stadium, the Bahamas's fortieth independence celebrations in 2013, and the fact that the country hadn't host the event in ten years. CARIFTA Games
The CARIFTA Games is an annual athletics competition founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA). The games was first held in 1972 and consists of track and field events including sprint races, hurdles, middle distance track events, jumping and throwing events, and relays. The Games has two age categories: under-17 (under-18 until 2017) and under-20. Only countries associated with CARIFTA may compete in the competition.
