Jahangir Mohammad Adel ( bn, জাহাংগীর মোহাম্মদ আদেল; died 13 November 2014) was a Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jatiya Party politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dhaka-12 from 1979 to 1982 and MP for Dhaka-7 Dhaka-7 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2014 by Haji Mohammad Salim, of the Awami League since 2018. On 14 August 2000, Kamal Hossain, a Bangladesh Awami League leader, was shot dead outside Adels house after protesting the raising of Pakistan's flag on Pakistan Day in Adels house in Old Dhaka. The Jatiya Party ( bn, জাতীয় পার্টি, translit=Jatiyo Party, lit=National Party) is a conservative, nationalist political party in Bangladesh and is currently the main opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, against the Awami League. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammad Quader. On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. However, the party backtracked the next day and announced that it intended to remain part of the opposition. Currently, it holds Rangpur out of Bangladesh's 12 city corporations.
