Jahangir Alam Chowdhury
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, (born 2 February 1953 in Munshiganj District, East Pakistan) is a retired three-star general of the Bangladesh Army and former Chief of the Bangladesh Rifles during the conflicts with Border Security Force of India and skirmishes with Banga Sena militant group in the Bangladesh–India border. A former Principal Staff Officer of the Army of Bangladesh he was elevated to the position of Quartermaster general at the same time his Military Academy course-mate Moeen U Ahmed, the Chief of the Army Staff was made first serving Four-star General in national military history. He is widely known to be credited to have gone to the Presidential Palace to ask the President of Bangladesh to declare the State of emergency which led to the Events of 2008 that brought the military in power. Lieutenant General (Bangladesh)
Lieutenant General (abbreviated as Lt. Gen. and in contraction simply known as 'general') is a senior rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the second-highest active rank of the Bangladesh Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of lieutenant general. It is also considered a 3 star rank. Till 2007 it was the highest rank in the Bangladesh Armed Forces as all chiefs of army staff held this rank and navy and air chiefs were of two-star ranks. Lieutenant general is a higher rank than Major General, but lower than General. Lieutenant general is the equivalent of vice admiral in the Bangladesh Navy and air marshal in the Bangladesh Air Force. Bangabhaban
The Bangabhaban ( bn, বঙ্গভবন ''Bôngobhôbôn'', lit. ''House of Bengal'') is the official residence and principal workplace of the president of Bangladesh, located on Bangabhaban Road, and short road connecting Dilkusha, Dhaka, Dilkusha Avenue, Dhaka. It is surrounded by the Bangabhaban Gardens (formerly Nawab's Dilkusha Gardens). The site hosted the Dilkusha Government House during British Raj, British rule which was used by the viceroy of India and the governor of Bengal. Moeen U Ahmed
Moeen Uddin Ahmed is a former Bangladesh Army general and the 12th Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 15 June 2005 to 15 June 2009 with last one-year extension during the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed. He has worked in Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan as a Defence Attaché in the rank of brigadier, and prior to that he served as a UN Peacekeeper in United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda as a colonel in 1995. Banga Sena
Bangabhumi ( bn, বঙ্গভূমি, meaning the land of Vanga, also spelt Bongobhumi) also known as Bir Bongo ( bn, বীর বঙ্গ), is a separatist movement to create a Bengali Hindu country for Bangladeshi Hindus in southwestern Bangladesh, envisioned by Banga Sena. Banga Sena ( en, Vanga Army) is a separatist Hindu organization which advocates formation of a Bangabhumi for Bengali Hindus in Bangladesh. The group is led by Kalidas Baidya. The movement was founded in 1973 in India soon after the independence of Bangladesh to support the Hindu refugees from Bangladesh, who were targeted by the Pakistan Army in the 1971 Bangladesh atrocities. Border Security Force
The Border Security Force (BSF) is India's border guarding organisation on its border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) of India, and was raised in the wake of the 1965 war on 1 December 1965, "for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected there with". It has various active roles during an outbreak of war. It is the only CAPF to have a Water Wing, Air Wing and an Artillery Regiment. It comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The BSF has its own cadre of officers but its head, designated as a Director-General (DG), since its raising has been an officer from the Indian Police Service. Munshiganj ( bn, মুন্সীগঞ্জ), also historically known as Bikrampur, is a district in central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka Division and borders Dhaka District. 24th Infantry Division is a formation of the Bangladesh Army. It is one of the three infantry division in Chittagong Division. It is headquartered in Chittagong Cantonment in the Chittagong District.
