Jagtar Singh Hawara ( pa, ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ; born 16 May 1973) is a Sikh political prisoner and member of Babbar Khalsa who has been serving as the Sarbat Khalsa appointed jathedar of the Akal Takht since 2015. He was convicted as a co-conspirator in the assassination of the 12th chief minister of Punjab, Beant Singh, accused of human rights violation in Punjab. Early and personal life Jagtar Singh Hawara was born on 17 May 1970, at Hawara, a small village in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. His mother's name is Narinder Kaur. In 2005, Hawara married Balwinder Kaur, daughter of Dara Singh at a gurdwara in village Dohla. On 3 March 2006, Balwinder Kaur's petition for annulment of marriage was adjourned. Kaur claimed to had stayed with Sahib Singh, an alias of Jagtar Singh Hawara for just 11 days, after which she was dropped off at her parents’ house, where Hawara stayed for a day. Jagtar Singh Diyalpura is an Indian politician and the MLA representing the Samrala Assembly constituency in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He was elected as the MLA in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. Career He has completed matriculation and traded in poultry and mushroom farming. He entered politics and joined the Aam Aadmi Party. He contested the assembly election for the first time in 2022. He defeated the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha (SSM) president and its chief ministerial candidate Balbir Singh Rajewal and four-time sitting Congress MLA Amrik Singh Dhillon. Jagtar (23 March 1935 – 30 March 2010) was a Punjabi poet. He was widely credited for being a stickler for meter and rhyme. He was very popular among the politically conscious Punjabi readers having left-wing leanings. In the early period of his popularity he was known by his pen name Jagtar “Papiha” which he later dropped.
