Jagjit Singh Anand
Jagjit Singh Anand (28 December 1921 – 19 June 2015) was an Indian communist activist, journalist, author, and freedom fighter. He was the editor of ''Nawan Zamana'' for more than half a century. He is known for his plain speaking on the opportunism of the Akalis,, the Congress, and the terrorists during the Punjab Crisis in the last two decades of the twentieth century. Anand countered death threats defiantly: "I will not be cowed down by death threats and attempts on my life by the extremists and I will uphold the freedom of the press at all costs." Born in 1921 at Taran Taaran to Mehtab Singh and Tejwant Kaur, he was initially educated in the local Guru Arjan Dev Khalsa High School where his father was the headmaster. Communist Party of India (CPI) is the oldest Marxist–Leninist communist party in India and one of the nine national parties in the country. The CPI was founded in modern-day Kanpur (formerly known as Cawnpore) on 26 December 1925. History Formation The Communist Party of India was formed on 26 December 1925 at the first Party Conference in Kanpur, which was then known as ''Cawnpore''. Its founders included M. N. Roy, his wife Evelyn Trent, Abani Mukherji, and M. P. T. Acharya. S.V. Ghate was the first General Secretary of CPI. Nawan Zamana
''Nawan Zamana'' is an Indian Punjabi language daily newspaper owned by the Arjan Singh Gargaj Foundation, published in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. After partition, Communist Party of India brought out its Urdu weekly Naya Zamana from Jalandhar in 1952. The CPI converted Naya Zamana into the Punjabi daily, Nawan Zamana, as Urdu was losing its readership after partition. Jagjit Singh Anand, a former member of Rajya Sabha, was its Chief Editor for 50 years until his death in June 2015. Its online edition was launched in 2007. The History of Punjab refers to the past human history of Punjab region which is a geopolitical, cultural, and historical region in the northwest of the Indian subcontinent, comprising eastern Pakistan and Punjab state in India. Revolutionary Movement For Indian Independence
The Revolutionary movement for Indian Independence was the part of the Indian independence movement comprising the actions of violent underground revolutionary factions. Groups believing in armed revolution against the ruling British fall into this category, as opposed to the generally peaceful civil disobedience movement spearheaded by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The revolutionary groups were mainly concentrated in Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar, the United Provinces and Punjab. More groups were scattered across India.
