Jonathan Kweku Awote-Mensah (born 27 March 1992), professionally known as Jae5 is a British-Ghanaian record producer and mixing engineer from Plaistow, East London. He is a Grammy Award-winning producer and is signed to Black Butter Records. Early life Jonathan Mensah grew up in London as a child and moved to Ghana from age 9 to age 12 with his brothers. He is the older brother of NSG members Kruddz and OGD. When he moved back to London, he did courses at the program APE Media, where he developed production and engineering skills. His older brother also had a DJ program where he learned how to use Fruity Loops and other software tools. Career Jae5 was part of a production company called JOAT Music Group, started by his uncle Blemish and artist Randy Valentine. ''Common Sense'' is the debut studio album by British rapper J Hus. It was released on 12 May 2017 by Black Butter Records, distributed by Sony Music, for digital download and CD purchase. Afroswing
Afroswing, also known as Afrobashment, or less commonly Afrobbean or Afro-trap (not to be confused with the French genre), is a genre of music that developed in the UK during the mid-2010s, derivative of dancehall and afrobeats, with influences from trap, hip hop, R&B, and grime. Commercially, the genre has been very successful, with many afroswing artists making it into the British charts. Characteristics Afroswing is largely defined by its melody rather than a specific tempo. Producer Steel Banglez stated the key elements of afroswing were happy or dark chords that "make you feel a certain way", and that "drum pattern is the most important thing about this whole sound, it's the snare that comes on the third. NSG (group)
NSG is a British afroswing collective from East London. The group consists of Kruddz, OGD, Papii Abz, Dope, Mxjib, and Mojo. They released two mixtapes, ''Grown Up'' and ''Roots'', the latter includes their most successful single "Options" featuring Tion Wayne. NSG is acronym that has multiple meanings such as: Nipple Sucking Gang, Non-Stop Grinding, Never Stop Growing, No Sleep Gang, New Sound Group, and Nigeria Slash Ghana. History NSG are a collective of childhood friends who grew up in Hackney, London, attending the same high school at Arts and Media School, Islington. Some of the members were students at University of Hertfordshire. The group consists of three artists from Nigerian heritage and three artists from Ghanaian heritage. Momodou Lamin Jallow (born 27 May 1995), known professionally as J Hus, is a British rapper and singer who has been credited with pioneering the genre afroswing. He is currently signed to Black Butter Records. He gained popularity in 2015 following the release of his song "Dem Boy Paigon". Afrobeats (not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing), or Afro-pop or Afro-fusion (or Afropop or Afrofusion), is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s.
