Jacques Plante Trophy
The Jacques Plante Trophy is awarded annually to the best ice hockey goaltender in Switzerland as voted on by a jury consisting of the captains and the coaches of the teams in the Nationalliga A. The Jacques Plante Trophy was donated in 1986 by legendary Canadian goaltender Jacques Plante's widow Caroline R. Plante, who resides in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. In ice hockey, two opposing teams use ice hockey sticks to control, advance and shoot a closed, vulcanized, rubber disc called a " puck" into the other team's goal. Each goal is worth one point. Genève-Servette HC
The Genève-Servette HC (also called Servette or GSHC) is a professional ice hockey club based in Geneva, Switzerland and competing in the National League (NL), the top tier of the Swiss hockey league system. The team plays their home games at the Patinoire des Vernets, which has a seating capacity of 7,135. The team is currently the oldest team in the NL, being founded in 1905. Renato Tosio
Renato Tosio (born 16 November 1964 in Wil, Switzerland) is a retired Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender. He is popular for his energetic style of play, for his sportsmanship and also for being a great entertainer and showman. Playing career Tosio began his professional career playing for EHC Chur, after playing in junior teams of the club since he was 8 years old. He stayed with Chur until the end of the 1986/87 season, twice winning the NLB championship and thus promoting to the NLA (in 1984 and 1986). He then played 14 years for SC Bern, the first game on 3 October 1987 against EHC Biel and the final one on 20 March 2001 against HC Lugano. He was Swiss Ice Hockey Champion for four times with SC Bern: 1989, 1991, 1992, 1997 His jersey number 31 has since been retired. HC Fribourg-Gottéron
HC Fribourg-Gottéron is a professional ice hockey team based in Fribourg, Switzerland, which competes in the National League (NL). The team is the sixth most attended team in Switzerland for the 2015/16 season with 6,156 spectators. History The club was originally started as HC Gottéron by the citizens of the town of Auge in 1938. They competed on an outdoor rink, most notably at ''Les Augustins'', until 1982 when Patinoire St-Léonard was constructed. In 1980, the name ''HC Fribourg-Gottéron'' was adopted upon promotion into the National League (NL). In spite of the club's financial struggles for the better part of their existence in the NL, they managed to reach the league's championship finals three years in a row (1992–94), but have never won a championship in their long history.
