Jacques Martin (ice Hockey)
Jacques Martin (born October 1, 1952) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey coach and current senior advisor of the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. In the National Hockey League (NHL), he has been the head coach of the St. Louis Blues, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and the Florida Panthers. Martin was also the general manager with the Panthers, and has served as an assistant coach with the Canadian men's national ice hockey team. Martin is a Franco-Ontarian, and a two-time Stanley Cup champion. Personal Martin was born in Rockland, Ontario and raised in Saint-Pascal-Baylon, Ontario. He left the family farm at the age of 13 and moved to Ottawa to pursue his high school education. Martin attended post-secondary education at St. Lawrence University in New York State and at the University of Ottawa. Rockland is a bilingual community located about east of downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, part of the city of Clarence-Rockland. Rockland has a population of 26,505 (2021). The Canada men's national ice hockey team (popularly known as Team Canada; french: Équipe Canada) is the ice hockey team representing Canada internationally. The team is overseen by Hockey Canada, a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. From 1920 until 1963, Canada's international representation was by senior amateur club teams. Toronto Marlboros
The Toronto Marlborough Athletic Club, commonly known as the Toronto Marlboros, was founded in 1903. It operated junior ice hockey and senior ice hockey teams in the Ontario Hockey Association and later the Ontario Hockey League. The Marlboros were a farm team to the Toronto Maple Leafs and one of the dominant junior teams in history, winning seven Memorial Cup championships. The senior team competed for the Stanley Cup in 1904, and won the Allan Cup in 1950. Cornwall Royals
The Cornwall Royals were a junior ice hockey team based in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. The team played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1969 to 1981, and the Ontario Hockey League from 1981 to 1992. This team shared its name with other Cornwall Royals teams that played in the QSHL, MMJHL, or OHA-B. History From 1961 until 1969, the Cornwall Royals were successful members of the Central Junior A Hockey League (CJHL). Dick Todd (ice Hockey)
Richard Todd is a Canadian retired ice hockey coach. He has the second most wins by a coach in Ontario Hockey League history. Todd got his start as a coach with the Peterborough Petes in the 1970s as a trainer and worked his way up, becoming the team's head coach in 1982. Unlike the vast majority of hockey coaches, Todd never played the game at a high level. He led the team for the next eleven years, winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup in 1989 and 1993. Todd was awarded the Matt Leyden Trophy as OHL Coach of the Year in 1987–88. He also led Canada to a gold medal at the 1991 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. In 1993 Todd took a job as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers, winning a Stanley Cup with them in 1994. He retired in 1998, but came back as coach of the Petes in 2004. Hawkesbury Hawks
The Hawkesbury Hawks are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). History The Hawks were formed by a group of local businessmen in March 1974. From 1974 until 1976 the Hawks were a part of the Eastern Ontario Junior B Hockey League. After making the jump to the Central Junior A Hockey League in 1976, the Hawks found themselves in the basement of the league in their first season—although they quickly rose through the ranks in the seasons following.
