Jacques Foix
Jacques Foix (; 26 November 1930 – 14 June 2017) was a French footballer who played striker. His playing career spanned from 1951 to 1964. Foix made seven appearances for the French national team between 1953 and 1956, scoring three goals and was a member of two French League championship squads in 1959 and 1964. The France national football team (french: Equipe de France) represents the nation of France in international association football. It is fielded by the French Football Federation (french: Fédération Française de Football), the governing body of football in France, and competes as a member of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), which encompasses the countries of Europe. The team played its first official international match on 1 May 1904 against Belgium. Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. Attacking positions generally favour irrational players who ask questions to the defensive side of the opponent in order to create scoring chances, where they benefit from a lack of predictability in attacking play.
