Jacques Boutault (born 4 January 1961) is a French politician member of Europe Écologie Les Verts (EELV) and the mayor of the 2nd arrondissement of Paris between 2001 and 2020. Biography The son of a Republican Guard and of a seamstress, he co-founded the first high school ''Comité d'action lycéen'', in 1978 at the Joliot-Curie high school in Nanterre, he first campaigned in associations such as ''Droit devant !!'', Greenpeace, ''Les Amis de la Terre'' and Attac. Until 1996, in a close-knit team of amateur journalists, he published ''La Riposte'', a fanzine devoted to politics, sex and drugs. In France, a mayor (french: maire), (Occitan language, Occitan: ''cònsol)'' is chairperson of the Municipal council (France), municipal council, which organises the work and deliberates on municipal matters. "Que sais-je?" (QSJ) (; Literally: "What do I know?", ) is an editorial collection published by the Presses universitaires de France (PUF). The aim of the series is to provide the lay reader with an accessible introduction to a field of study written by an expert in the field. As such, they are a good example of ''haute vulgarisation'' (high popularization). The sentence "Que sais-je?" is taken from the works of French essayist Michel de Montaigne. Started in 1941 by Paul Angoulvent (1899–1976), founder of the Presses Universitaires de France, the series now numbers over 3,900 titles by more than 2,500 authors, and translated in more than 43 languages. Somes titles have sold more than 300,000 copies (namely by Piaget). Each year, 50 to 60 new titles are added to the collection, which comprises ten different series. Martine Billard (born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine) is a French politician and a deputy to the National Assembly of France. She is a member of the Parti de Gauche. 2008 Paris Municipal Election
Municipal elections were held in Paris on 9 and 16 March 2008, at the same time as other French municipal elections. The outgoing Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë ( PS), faced UMP candidate Françoise de Panafieu who was chosen to head his party's list in a primary election held in 2006. The MoDem MEP and François Bayrou supporter, Marielle de Sarnez, was the centrist candidate. Control of the 20 arrondissements of the French capital was also to be decided in the elections. Of these, the PS- Greens-MRC controlled 12 (10 PS, 1 Green, 1 MRC) and the UMP eight. 163 councillors were due to be elected in the 20 arrondissements.
