Jacques-Yvan Morin
Jacques-Yvan Morin, (born July 15, 1931 in Quebec City, Quebec) is a former professor of law and a politician in Quebec, Canada. Morin graduated from the McGill University Faculty of Law with a BCL in 1953, where he was the founder of the ''McGill Law Journal''. He taught international and constitutional law at Université de Montréal from 1958 until 1973. He was deputy director of the Canadian Yearbook of International Law from 1963 to 1973 and founded the Quebec Journal of International Law in 1984. From 1966 to 1969, he chaired the Estates General of French Canada and joined in 1970 the Quebec sovereignty movement. He became president of the ''Mouvement national des Québécois'' in 1971. He failed to win a seat in Bourassa in the 1970 Quebec provincial election but won a seat in the riding of Sauvé in the 1973 election. Gabriel Loubier
Gabriel Loubier (born September 27, 1932) was a politician in Quebec, Canada. He served as leader of the '' Union Nationale'' party from 1971 to 1974, and as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Quebec from 1971 to 1973. Born in Black Lake, Quebec, Loubier studied law at Laval University, and was admitted to the bar in 1958. He was first elected to the Quebec legislature representing Bellechasse in 1962 and served as Minister of Tourism and Fishing in the cabinets of Daniel Johnson and Jean-Jacques Bertrand from 1966 to 1970 and also as Minister responsible for Youth and Sport from 1968 to 1970. Following the defeat of the Bertrand government in the 1970 provincial election, Loubier was a candidate in the June 1971 Union Nationale leadership convention defeating Marcel Masse on the third ballot to become party leader and leader of the Opposition. The deputy premiers of Quebec ( French: ''Vice-premier ministres du Québec'' (masculine) or ''Vice-première ministres du Québec'' (feminine)), is the deputy head of government in Quebec. There was no deputy premier until July 1960. In the 1960s, the post was sometimes referred to as the vice president of the Executive Council. The post has been temporarily vacant twice: after the death of Premier Daniel Johnson, Sr. when the incumbent deputy premier, Jean-Jacques Bertrand, became premier; and after the death of Deputy Premier Pierre Laporte. Besides Bertrand, two other deputy premiers, Bernard Landry and Pauline Marois, later became premier, though both did so some years after their tenure as deputy premier had ended. This article provides a summary of results for the general elections to the Canadian province of Quebec's unicameral legislative body, the National Assembly of Quebec (and its predecessor, the Legislative Assembly of Quebec). The number of seats has generally increased over time, from 65 for the first six elections, to the current high of 125. The chart on the upper right shows the information graphically, with the most recent elections towards the right. The Conservative party (blue) in 1936 merged into the Union Nationale (now defunct).
