Jacqueline Pusey
Jacqueline "Jackie" Pusey (born 14 August 1959) is a Jamaican former track and field sprinter. She competed over distances from 100 metres to 400 metres. She represented Jamaica at the 1976 Summer Olympics (being their youngest entrant at age 16) and competed a second time at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Pusey won Jamaica's first world championship relay medal at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics, running in the 4×100 metres relay. She had her career peak in 1981 when she won bronze medals in the individual 400 m and relay at the 1981 IAAF World Cup and set two championship records to take a 200 metres/400 metres double at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics. As a result of her achievements that year, she was given the Jamaican Sportswoman of the Year award. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. Silvia Chivás
Silvia Chivás Baró (born September 10, 1954) is a former track and field athlete from Cuba. At the age of 17 she won a bronze medal in the 100 metres at the 1971 Pan Am Games in Cali. During the same Games, she and her teammates would take the silver medal in the 4 x 100 metres relay. At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich she won the bronze medal in 100 metres, and broke the world junior record in the first round with an 11.18 clocking. She won another bronze medal in 4 x 100 metre relay together with her teammates Marlene Elejarde, Carmen Valdés and Fulgencia Romay. In 1975 she would again win silver in the 4 x 100 metre relay at the Pan Am Games. She won a bronze in the 100 meters, and a gold in the 200 meters at the World Student Games in 1977, where she would lower her national record in the 100 metres to 11.16 in the semi-final. Lorna Forde (born 24 June 1952) is a Barbadian sprinter. She competed in the women's 100 metres and women's 400 metres at the 1976 Summer Olympics. The ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships (better known as Champs) is an annual Jamaican high school track and field meet held by Jamaica's Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association. The five day event, held during the last week before Easter in Kingston, has been considered a proving ground for many Jamaican athletes.
