Sir John Edward Cohen (born Jacob Kohen; 6 October 1898 – 24 March 1979) was an English grocer who founded the Tesco supermarket chain. Jacob Cohen is a scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. He is Chief Scientist for the International Space Station (ISS) Utilization Office, the Deputy Division Chief (Acting) for the Mission Design Division and the Director of the Ames Biology Office within the Engineering Directorate at the Ames Research Center. He is also responsible for implementing new biology-based opportunities. Cohen also works with the Mission Development Division, the NanoSatellite Mission Office, and other directorates and divisions to develop small spacecraft utilization and application strategies. Jacob Cohen (April 20, 1923 – January 20, 1998) was an American psychologist and statistician best known for his work on statistical power and effect size, which helped to lay foundations for current statistical meta-analysis and the methods of estimation statistics. He gave his name to such measures as Cohen's kappa, Cohen's ''d'', and Cohen's ''h''. Catholicos Jacob I the Learned was the Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Church between 1268 and 1286. The pontifical throne was vacant for a few months after the death of Constantine I until it was filled by Jacob I from the region of Tarsus or Sis. He took up residence at the Catholicos's palace of Hromkla. He had been the author of many works and of hymns as well. Shortly after his election he transcribed the general epistle of Nerses IV the Graceful and sent copies of it to places throughout his jurisdiction. Jacob Willem "Wim" Cohen (27 August 1923 Leeuwarden – 12 November 2000) was a Dutch mathematician, well known for over hundred scientific publications and several books in queueing theory. Cohen was born in a Jewish family, as the son of Benjamin Cohen and Aaltje Klein. Having acquired an autodidact knowledge of mathematics while in hiding during World War II, Cohen got an Engineer's degree (1949) and Ph.D. degree (1955) in mechanical engineering at Delft University, on a dissertation entitled ''Stress Calculations in Helicoidal Shells and Propeller Blades''. Jacob Greer Cohen (ג'ייק כהן; born September 25, 1990) is an American-Israeli 6' 10 " (2.10 m ) tall professional basketball player for Maccabi Tel Aviv of the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroLeague. He also represents the Israeli national team in international competitions. Cohen played college basketball at Davidson College, with the Davidson Wildcats, from 2009 through 2013. Ya'akov Cohen ( he, יעקב כהן, born 13 July 1953) is an Israeli rabbi and former politician. Biography Born in Bnei Brak, Cohen was ordained as a rabbi at the Beit Talmud LeHora'a. He founded the Hassidic Bnei Brak Seminary in 1980 and served as a director until 2001. For the 2006 Knesset elections he was placed sixth on the United Torah Judaism list, and became a Knesset member when the party won six seats. Ya'akov Cahan or Kahan ( he, יעקב כהן, born 26 June 1881; died 20 November 1960) was an Israeli poet, playwright, translator, writer and Hebrew linguist.
