Jacob Bryson
Jacob Bryson (born November 18, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played four seasons for Providence College, during which he served as team co-captain and was named to the Hockey East First Team Hockey All-Star and American Hockey Coaches Association Second-Team All-American. Early life Bryson was born on November 18, 1997, in London, Ontario, to parents Nancy and Dean. He learned to play ice hockey through his father alongside his brother Ty and cousins Ella and Mitchell Vande Sompel. Playing career Amateur Growing up in London, Bryson played for numerous local teams before enrolling at Loomis Chaffee School. He played alongside his cousin on the London Gold Minor Midget AAA team and they were both named to the Minor Midget AAA All-Star Game in 2012. Providence Friars Men's Ice Hockey
The Providence Friars men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Providence College. The Friars are a member of Hockey East. The skating Friars are currently coached by Nate Leaman has been the head coach of the skating Friars since 2011, leading them to a national championship in 2015. They play at the 3,030-seat Schneider Arena in Providence, Rhode Island. Rochester Americans
The Rochester Americans (colloquially known as the Amerks) are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League; the team is an owned and operated affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. The team plays its home games in Rochester, New York, at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Americans are the fourth oldest franchise in the AHL, and have the second longest continuous tenure among AHL teams in their current locations after the Hershey Bears. Rochester was awarded a new franchise in June 1956, when the Pittsburgh Hornets were forced to suspend operations after their arena, the Duquesne Gardens was razed in an urban renewal project. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Cornell Big Red Men's Ice Hockey
The Cornell Big Red men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Cornell University. Cornell competes in the ECAC Hockey conference and plays its home games at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, New York. Six of the eight Ivy League schools sponsor men's hockey and all six teams play in the 12-team ECAC. The Ivy League crowns a champion based on the results of the games played between its members during the ECAC season. Cornell has won the ECAC Championship a record 12 times and has won the Ivy League Title 24 times (20 outright, four tied), second to Harvard's 25 (21 outright, four tied). Hobey Baker Award
The Hobey Baker Award is an annual award given to the top National Collegiate Athletic Association men's ice hockey player. It has been awarded 41 times. It is named for Hall of Famer Hobey Baker, who played college hockey at Princeton University and died shortly after World War I. The original statue for the award was commissioned and awarded by the Decathlon Athletic Club (now defunct) in Bloomington, Minnesota. The model for the award trophy was Steve Christoff, who played for the University of Minnesota and in the National Hockey League. Kasper Björkqvist (born 10 July 1997) is a Finnish professional ice hockey winger who is currently playing for the Oulun Kärpät in the Liiga. The Len Ceglarski Award is an annual award given out at the conclusion of the Hockey East regular season to the player most exemplifying the qualities of sportsmanship on the ice in the conference as voted by the head coaches of each Hockey East team. The award was created and named in honor of long-time Boston College head coach Len Ceglarski who retired following the 1991–92 season.
