The Jacksonville Indians were a minor league baseball team based in Jacksonville, Florida. They played in the Class-C Florida State League in 1921 and 1922. They were managed by George Stovall. As a 44-year-old, Stovall also played in 65 games for them. In 1921, the team first began play as the Jacksonville Scouts. Florida State League
The Florida State League (FSL) is a Minor League Baseball league based in the state of Florida. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A Southeast before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. Each league member is affiliated with a Major League Baseball (MLB) team, and most play in their affiliate's spring training facility. George Stovall
George Thomas Stovall (November 23, 1877 – November 5, 1951), nicknamed "Firebrand", was an American first baseman in Major League Baseball. He played for the Cleveland Naps and the St. Louis Browns in the American League, and he also played two seasons with the Kansas City Packers of the short-lived Federal League. He was the manager of the Naps for one season in , and in , he went to the Browns, serving as player-manager for two seasons. In , he jumped to the Packers as a first baseman-manager. In 1916, he signed with the Toledo Mud Hens and played a season there before retiring from baseball at age 39. In 5596 career at bats, Stovall had 1382 hits. He recorded 231 doubles and 142 career stolen bases. While for the most part a first baseman, he did play some second base and even third base, especially early in his career. Logan Drake
Logan Gaffney Drake (December 26, 1899 – June 1, 1940) was a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from through for the Cleveland Indians. Listed at , 165 lb., Drake batted and threw right-handed. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Drake began his professional baseball career with the Bradenton Growers of the Florida State League. He spent the 1919 and 1920 seasons with them; he had a batting average of .245 in 1919 and .186 in 1920. The following season, he played for the Jacksonville Scouts of the Florida State League and the Birmingham Barons of the Southern Association. The following season, he made his major league debut. Paul Schreiber
Paul Frederick Schreiber (October 8, 1902 – January 28, 1982) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball. He pitched in ten games for the Brooklyn Robins during the 1922 and 1923 baseball season. He returned to the major leagues as a batting practice pitcher and coach for the New York Yankees. In , while he was coaching for the Yanks, he briefly came out of retirement to pitch in two more games when the staff was depleted due to World War II. His span of 22 years and 2 days between consecutive major league appearances remains an MLB record. Herbert Mark Thomas (May 26, 1902 – December 4, 1991) was a right-handed minor and major league baseball player and minor league manager. Although his major league career lasted only three seasons, 1924, 1925 and 1927, for two different teams, the Boston Braves and New York Giants, his minor league career spanned 17 seasons.
